I purchased a SNARKX tuner from these guys only a couple months ago. It already stopped working. So after some trouble shooting, trying a new battery, I checked the instructions. Come to find out the tuner that was in the package was different than the one on the box and the instructions. I was too focused on getting my guitar tuned, I didn't notice till it stopped working. Which by the way, it's a tuner, not super complicated. After only a short period of time, I was surprised it wasn't turning on. So naturally, I called the shop to let them know what was up. Which then led me to have one of the poorest conversations I've had with an employee to date. Very unhelpful, entitled, and bratty. It was like talking to my 19 year old sister. I quote him saying "well what do you want me to do about it?" Not sure mate, maybe make it right? Exchange it? After a few minutes, he finally offered to "take a look at it," but at that point I was fed up with this pr***, so I went to Beacock instead. Not only did they help me with some other things, they even helped me with the tuner, that they didn't sell. Buy & Sell could learn a thing from them.

I've made a couple purchases here, and I've always been blown away by the diverse variety of instruments they have in stock and the knowledgable, friendly staff. If you're looking for an instrument not normally found in most popular western music shops, this place will probably have it. My last purchase was an Oud back in August of 2023, and I was impressed by one of the employee's knowledge of the instrument. He took the time to write down several online resources and books for me to start out with, and he was clearly very passionate about the instruments they sell and was happy to take the time to answer all my questions.

Quite honestly, this place is everything anyone could hope for in a local music shop. I came in looking for a replacement head to refurbish a banjo that a friend had kindly gifted me. Kyle [serendipitous name coincidence] was expertly knowledgeable, discussed some options with me, and helped me settle on exactly what I needed. They also have a gorgeous inventory of banjos that I thoroughly enjoyed gawking at. I will certainly be back - thank you! *First pic is some of Buy & Sell's banjo inventory, and the second is my refurbished banjo.

Limited selection (especially on lower end) and mediocre service. One staff was disinterested, would barely answer our questions, and seemed like he didn't know guitars. He kept giving vague answers like, "Um, you just have to try it and see..." Finally I pressed him to play us a couple of chords on each guitar so we could compare since we don't know how to play yet and he said, "Oh... I'm haven't played guitar in a few months." A few months and he can't even strum a couple chords up and down?? He directed us to his co-worker finally (the man with the fabulous beard) who REALLY helped us. He played a cool little thing on each so we could compare the sound and he even gave my friend advice on which guitar would be best for a snippet of music she shared with him. We took his card because we would take lessons from him!! I personally would have walked out without a purchase due to the service of the first guy and then just taken lessons with the second guy, but my friend ended up buying the guitar in gratitude for the second guy's help. I wish she was into ukuleles... Pacific Winds has such...

Overall: Great selection of instruments of every sort, quality and quantity for such a small store. The owner is knowledgable and seems to enjoy a healthy conversation about all music related topics.

Atmosphere: mildly lit with enough walking space for most people. The shopkeeper and his assistant seemed a bit curt and not entirely friendly; however, I was coming in right as they opened asking for a specific piece and waited for a while in the store to get a call back about it. I can understand the irk. Despite this we talked for the better part of 15 minutes about different guitars, saxophones, accordions, etc... and just for a bit oglf chin wag picked up some very useful information.

Price: The prices are reasonable but I noticed a lean towards more expensive instruments. When I talked with the owner he mentioned a problem with his suppliers, so that could explain the eclectic stock. When asked the owner was firm on credit card or cash in hand payments. Any chance for payment plans had apparently been shot down by some...
