I came into Horai with my girlfriend as we have been long time fans of thier slat bread. However, I don’t think we will be returning for the food. We were the only two people in the cafe and our two sandwiches and soup took 45 minutes to get to us. The soup and chicken salad were premade so we were a bit confused on the wait, but still looking forward to the food. Once we got it the $9 breakfast sandwich was smaller than even a 1/2 sized sandwich and didn’t include the greens I had paid $2 extra for. Additionally, there was a sign out front that there is free parking behind the store and we were still ticketed with a $45 dollar ticket!! Over all we spent $90 between food and the ticket and it took us almost an hour to get in and out of the store. Horai is doing it right. I first experienced their offerings at the farmers market- it quickly became my partner and I’s first stop on Saturday mornings. Always delicious coffee, delightfully crafted bread, and really kind & warm energy. Visiting their new spot on E 11th recently was so exiting! The layout feels really open and light. All their food and medicine offerings are delicious (I really can not get enough of their bread lol). When I ordered my oat milk chai, I even got a heart design in it which can be hard to accomplish with non-dairy! The overall experience of Horai has such a community feel- I hope to be one of the regulars to keep supporting the cool stuff this crew is...

We love their stand at the Saturday market! When we found out they had a brick and mortar location we couldn't wait to try it. They have, hands down,the best dry cappuccino in town. Everywhere else I go I am basically handed a latte. They actually make it foamy and light. The pastries are to die for! Not only are they eclectic and interesting, they taste amazing! They really deliver delicious savory and sweet treats. I think I have tried one of everything they make at this point. I have genuinely not been disappointed in any of them.
