I had a problem with my new MacBook Pro. A November 2023 14inch model that I got in June 2024. I just did an OS update on it, and everything went smoothly as usual with the update, however, when the update was finished and I logged in, everything on my desktop was gone! All of the icons on the desktop, everything vanished, it was just the wallpaper!
Thankfully I came across mactonic, I gave them a call, and luckily they were able to help me. They recognized my laptop’s issue, and apparently it does happen to MacBooks, but they extremely rare, and I happened to be on of the unlucky few. Anyways they took my laptop and said it will be done by tomorrow because I came in at the end of the day due to the fact that I spend the entire day at university trying to resolve the issue with tech support and resnet. Finally I on the next day I received a call from them and they told me that everything is fixed! I jumped for joy! I then came in to the store and got my laptop back. They even managed to backup the old data including the applications I had like WacomOne, Microsoft office, zoom, google chrome, etc. They managed to back it up because they checked on the Mac’s safe mode that it can indeed be backed up when rebooting the laptop. I thanked them so much for fixing my Mac, I would’ve been screwed since it’s the only laptop I got for new uni, and it was a new laptop! I just got it!
If anyone is having issues with their MacBooks in Eugene, come down to Mactonic and they’ll fix your Mac’s issue. They are a good alternative to an Apple Store because I was seriously considering going to the Apple Store in Portland. But thankfully Eugene has a good place where they specialize in fixing MacBooks.

Read moreI took my Macbook pro in last November to be fixed after it shut down and wouldn't reconnect to the hard drive. Apparently they were backed up and said it would be a couple of weeks. Almost four weeks later we finally get a call from them letting us know it wasn't the hard drive, but a cord connecting the hard drive to the computer. Great! They said it was an easy fix and could be picked up immediately. About four months later (approx 2 weeks ago) my computer shut down again. I just recently relocated to the Denver area and when I brought it into a Mac specialist store and explained we just recently had it fixed, he assumed it would be the hard drive this time. He called me back a couple of days ago letting me know that it was the cord again! I spent about $200 to get a simple cord replaced that didn't even last four months! Apparently when busy, the "easy fix" is overlooked and "fixed" lazily. I know there aren't a lot of affordable options in the Eugene area, but I'd suggest taking your Mac...
