Looking for the greatest independent bookstore on the planet? You might have found it! Water Steet Bookstore is awesome. Support this local business. They have stacks of awesome books, a wonderful kids section (that my child adored) and a greeting card selection that can’t be beat. The staff is spectacular (more about that in a bit), they will order anything they don’t have for easy and convenient (and during times of global pandemic, curbside) pickup, not to mention, are you a maniac searching for a last second gift... on the way to the party? They will wrap it for you too, and they are wicked good at it (you will surely be caught... and don’t call me Shirley).

Finally the staff: a little background about me, I spent my teen years working in a video store, so I know how it is: “Do you have that movie with the car and the guy”? I would always just make up some movie, I wouldn’t be working when they returned it angry. Well the staff here, unlike me, they care! They will spend the time to assist you and even look things up! Not to mention have you ever seen Stef in the same room at the same time as Wonder Woman? Me either, just sayin’ !! Dan, I think I once saw him chase a pack of laughing hyenas out of downtown Exeter! They are simply amazing!

But for real, it is all you could ask for in a bookstore, they even have yummy chocolate!

During a recent road trip, I stumbled upon this quaint bookstore, and I couldn't have been more delighted with my find.

From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the warm smiles of the staff, who were not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable and eager to assist, making my browsing experience all the more enjoyable.

The book selection is perfect and curated with care, ensuring that every title is worthy of attention (leaving here and there some little cards with book reviews by the staff members).

The real highlight lies at the back of the store, where a vast window overlooks the river flowing by. As I perused the shelves, I found myself drawn to this serene spot, where people go to read their book and sip a coffee or leave a message in notebooks left there for our convenience.

What an amazing local treasure! Their customer service is top notch. Erin so promptly answered my email question that I wanted to shop in store. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable & courteous and did an excellent job assisting me with finding gift books for my 9 yr old granddaughter . Then to top off my pleasurable shopping experience they wrapped & shipped it to her in Ca for free!
