Had a nice stay in this apartment style rental. Having 2 separate bedrooms was nice for privacy. Has a full kitchen, though we didn't cook anything but nice to have, plus a full sized fridge and tv. The apartment was quite large overall. Bathroom on the smaller side and wasn't crazy about the style of the sink bowl but the water was always working and showers hot. Place was clean and neat.||No AC in the living room area just a fan. When we arrived it was super stuffy in here but once we got the AC in the bedrooms it was great. The back patio and roof deck were nice touches. Loved waking up and going out to look at the sunrise over the water. No elevator but only 3 stories high so not a big deal for us but you need to be capable of hauling luggage up and down.||Some of the windows in our room didn't lock very easily if at all so I locked the bedroom door at night - the owner should look into this for security reasons. The outside gate at the driveway made us feel better. The parking lot is on a hill but it worked for the rental car and there were always spots. I did step on a bunch of fire ants one night on the right side of the lot and my feet were on fire! They must come out at night.||The neighborhood does have a lot of roosters and dogs making sounds at all hours of the day and night which disrupted my sleep the first night and woke me up basically every morning. Not the owners fault, but bring some earplugs. There are also an excessive amount of pigeons that land on the deck/windows and coo and poop all day which was annoying and a little gross - I stepped in poop on the last day and these pigeons also woke me up! Hard to control without full netting around the place.||One of the house rules is to take out the trash at the end of the stay and make sure the floors are clean - reminds me of what Airbnb's typically ask for. Not a huge fan of this rule either because that is normally something that would be handled by a hotel. BUT this isn't a hotel and run by an individual so I understand it does help her out.||The owner, Noemi, was super nice and texted to give suggestions of things to do and was always very responsive to any questions we had. She offered food recommendations as well as things to do on rainy days. We met her one morning doing some work around the place and were able to chat. There were beach chairs, towels, sunscreen, aloe, umbrellas etc downstairs for anyone to use. We took some stuff to the local seven seas beach one day.||All in all some tweaks that could be made and some things out of your control but I would rather stay in a small locally run business to get the feel for a place. The owners kindness and effort makes up for...
Read moreNo idea how they got anything above a 2* rating. Hot water in sinks only, shower fixture pitted and rotting, “drain” is a grate that they tiled over. By the time you’re finishing your shower, the water has backed up. Some plugs don’t work. Half the windows don’t open. AC is in the large bedroom only and is inefficient for that room. Don’t plan on sleeping on that futon as you can feel the metal springs as soon as you sit down. Floor might look clean, but the grout is filthy, which made me wonder how clean. Veneer on doors is splitting. There’s a stopper on the front door that drags and you can’t adjust it. Door stop on the back door doesn’t even reach the floor. ||||Website pics are downright fraud. (No reviews there by the way. I’m surprised they didn’t mfr those like they did the pics.) That lovely rooftop with pretty patio furniture & an umbrella? It doesn’t exist. There’s a rooftop – it has two scattered, ratty, leftover sectional pieces. That lovely patio with tables/chairs? Nowhere to be found. The view from your balcony? You overlook a scruffy potholed pkg lot with rusted falling cyclone fence. Yes, you can get that pic - just bend down low so the railing blocks the rest of your “view”. The secured property with gated pkg? Remote doesn’t wk. ||||Overpriced, rundown. I wanted to be near the water and a view. Technically I got that but all I wanted after I arrived was to leave! Hence no photos- I just wanted out. This is...
Read moreFirst off, Mike and Noemi are excellent hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed, offered recommendations for food and fun, and treated us like family. Communication and ease of check in exceeded our expectations. The two bedroom apartment was comfortable and we had all amenities. Coffee makers are important in my book. Check. Loved the scenic views. My daughter and I did the night Bio Bay tour after she and her husband did the afternoon tour. It was fun to sit on the balcony and watch the kayakers enter the lagoon. Perfect place to watch. Sueños Del Mar is mere steps from the water and the convenience to the Bio Bay tours couldn't have been better. Sueños Del Mar is in close walking proximity to several restaurants, too. We loved the pina coladas at Pesca Fresca. And don't even get me started on their fabulous dumplings. Yum!!
Overall, our stay at Sueños Del Mar was so nice that my husband and I will be returning soon. Unfortunately, he didn't get to make the trip with us last time but we're looking forward to an upcoming reservation that will only include he and I. No kids allowed on this short weekend getaway. Can't wait. If you're looking for a convenient location, this is your spot. Clean, with...
