I did a lot of online research (deep dive googling and reddit pages) trying to find out the right mattress for me. To summarize... Don't buy the big S names or their derivatives... Most dedicated mattress stores are affiliated with a limited number of brands often under one umbrella company that is one of these big ones. These companies sink money into misleading advertising via fake review sites and exclusivity deals with stores and the consumer gets stuck with all costs and no benefits from those practices. Don't get overly into the "new" technology that each brand pushes. Memory foam is old news now and everything labeled new is just a take on similarly old practices. High quality material and construction as well as a combination of materials that works for your sleep needs are the only things that really matter. Locally produced brands are typically going to deliver a better product than the bed in a box... Typically much less shipping involved and get to avoid some of the pitfalls like off gassing from the foams. You can absolutely find something that will work and give you a good nights sleep in almost any price range. It's all about how long that purchase may last and how luxurious you may want things to feel.

But ultimately I wish I'd skipped all that and someone just told me to go here. So your welcome for doing that now.

The guy who helped us out was an absolute pleasure to interact with and genuinely made us feel like he cared more about us being ultimately happy with the product than making a sale. I've experienced people who are trying to target that feeling, but still pushing you in a particular direction. They weren't pushy at all. He listened to what we thought we wanted and gave helpful feedback as we ultimately made the journey away from what we thought we needed to a mattress we ultimately love. It's only been a few days... But my change in sleep is remarkable and I trust that if it doesn't hold up that the store will help me execute a warranty claim. But given the quality and value they seem to target, I have a pretty good feeling that won't be necessary.

So go here. Give a few mattresses a try. You'll maybe be surprised what you find and it certainly beats agonizing over internet research and reviews. Nobody sleeps the same so try it out yourself... And maybe skip the insane hassle of those 30 day trials mattresses. Very few are actually easy to return if you don't like it. First class product and service - I inherited a teak "european queen" bed from my family that was made in Indonesia in the 1950. Great frame but no conventional mattresses would fit. The mattress size needed was longer than a US mattress (88 inches) and narrower than queen and kings (56 inches). After reviewing several online vendors I decided to give Michigan Discount Mattress a try. I admit I was skeptical as buying sight unseen is not something I ever do, if I can avoid it.

I plugged my numbers in, selected a mattress type and crossed my fingers. I received an immediate confirmation and, because I had checked a box on the form requesting a phonecall confirmation, was pleased to receive a call the next day to go over my order. The employee was very knowledgeable and professional and helped me adjust my order, recommending I drop the length by an inch to ensure it would fit inside the box frame. I was warned that due to Christmas, I likely wouldn't receive my mattresss until early 2025 but I received a wonderful surprise when my mattress shipped early and I received it only 17 days after I ordered it!

It fit perfectly, had no off-gassing odors or chemical residue that you expect from mass-produced items. I have been sleeping on it now for about two weeks and it is just the right level of support and firmness. Added bonus? My dogs love it too!

I highly recommend MDM for a custom mattress build. Materials are US-sourced so less worries about strange chemicals in the materials or dyes. The company is very customer-centered and efficient. I would definitely buy another mattress from them.

Prior to ordering this, I had jammed a regular Queen mattress on my bed frame but the sides pitched in and the mattress moved because it was too wide and too short. My problems have been completely resolved and my heirloom bed now has a perfect mattress (I opted for the Spring Air Grand Plush).

Eric and Scott are definitely the go-to guys for mattresses, especially RV custom requests. These gentlemen are the most knowledgeable mattress professionals with whom I have had the pleasure of doing business. Eric assisted me with picking out the perfect mattress for us, then Scott performed his magic with dimensions! They had my mattress made and delivered to my door in 7 days!!! I expected to have to delay our trip back east but not necessary as this wonderful mattress arrived 3 days before we planned to leave.
