I have 2 pups, a Westiepoo (Teddy Wobbles) and a Shiba Inu (Yoshi) who have been getting groomed at PetSmart for months, and it all went great, really zero complaints. The two groomers that serviced my pups are Lacy and Lauren, they are awesome. Nonetheless, today I had the worse experience by far with our new addition to the family, Leyla. Leyla is a corgi mix, rescued from Romania. Leyla has her pet passport with all vaccines and medical record stamped and certified by a Vet which is required to enter the US. Although I had a grooming appointment scheduled for Leyla, they refused take Leyla because the passport documentation was not legitimate enough for them. Minnie, I guess the grooming morning supervisor, said āanyone can get that passport and fabricate the documentation and informationā and that āthe dates the vaccines were administered and expired are handwritten, anyone could have written that, their policy does not accept thatā in a very condescending manner, and that āthe passport information was not in Englishā. If she would have at least bothered to actually read the pet passport, she would have noticed that English was one of the 3 languages in the passport, that it was stamped and signed by a Medical Veterinarian and that all dates, stamps and signatures had been laminated to prevent tampering with, but she didnāt even bother to read the passport herself. I felt so insulted to have her say the documents I brought could be falsified and not legitimate. I felt discriminated against because my adoptive pet was not born in the US, and her documentation was not enough to get serviced where I always bring my other two pups. Leylaās veterinarian accepted these documents, she had been registered and seen by a vet as soon as she arrived without any issues. I find it ridiculous that an Army Veterinarian can accept these documents and PetSmart canāt. Minnieās minor attempt to solve the situation was to have me call Leyla's Vet so they can verbally verify the documentation was legitimate. I told her they were not open yet, they did not open for another hour, but then she said in a condescending manner ābut that Vet is really hard to get a hold of anyways, so you can get a written documentation from them certifying the dates of her vaccines are legitimate.ā To sum up, they lost me and my 3 pups as clients, and it is a shame because the actual groomers are great, but I will not go back to them. To assume that I falsified documents to get my pet serviced was insulting to me. If Iām adopting a pet, why would I not have her vaccines up to date? or make sure that she is safe and healthy in the presence of others? Isnāt that the reason we adopt pets? To give them lots of love, safety and a better life? PetSmart should know...

Two weeks ago, my family and I adopted a 12 week old kitten at the T.A.R.A. adoption event PetSmart was hosting. I asked the volunteers there, along with the person who had personally fostered the kitten, if she had any health issues, if she had been in a healthy environment, and if she needed any special treatment.
They claimed she was perfectly healthy, and needed no special treatment beyond a basic checkup with our vet. We took her to the vet they recommended, Reilly Road Animal Hospital, to see if she tested negative for feline leukemia. The vet claimed she was perfectly healthy, and heavily encouraged us to start introducing the kitten to our other two cats.
It turns out, the kitten had a serious upper respiratory infection that quickly infected both of our older cats, and also infested our house with fleas. We are almost $2,000 deep in vet bills, and very worried for our oldest cat, who has sensitive health as it is.
After calling their number, T.A.R.A. admitted to keeping the kitten with two other URI cats, treated me like I was the biggest inconvenience when I asked if they could help pay just for the kitten's antibiotic ($100) as she was already sick when we adopted her, and are now refusing my calls as I try to gather more information about her history.
Oh, and the kitten also had stitches in her belly from being spayed. Her foster (a woman who was drenched in cigarette smoke with deplorable hygiene) was the only one to hold her before we adopted the kitten, so we had no clue until we brought her home.
I leave this review here because T.A.R.A. claims to be a no kill animal rescue, but clearly doesn't properly vet their animals before "saving" them from shelters. When questioned, they said they don't test any of their cats for feline leukemia because then they can't take them.
This form of ignorance is malice. While the kitten thankfully came back negative for feline leukemia, who knows how many of their cats do have it because they refuse to test.
This kind of negligence should not be allowed for any animal, and certainly shouldn't be encouraged by PetSmart. PetSmart has officially lost my business because of this, and I will continue to warn people away...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you have a labradoodle, Do Not bring them here for grooming. In November 2022 I brought my labradoodle in for a groom and cut to shape her hair up for the Thanksgiving week. When I dropped her off they said she looked good. When I picked her up she was Shaved! I looked at my receipt and they also charged me for extra brushing. What brushing? They shaved her. They didnāt call me and ask if it was ok to change what I asked them to do. They said she had too many mats. But they checked her thoroughly at drop off and said she was good. I did receive a full refund and an invitation to come back at half price and use one of their experienced labradoodle groomers. So 4 months later (March) after her hair has grown back- I make an appointment. I go to the appointment, Iām told she will have to be shaved because there are a few mats near her ear and under her chin. I explain to Josh I comb her almost everyday and I guess I missed that area. Instead of shaving het could he comb it out? He said no it will take sooooo long. I asked, how is the rest of her. Itās all good except that little area. I asked could I borrow a comb and Iāll comb it out before he starts. Because I Do Not want her shaved. He said no. I said ok. Iām going to go to the grooming aisle in the store, get a comb and prove it can be done in less than 20 minutes. I spoke to Jacob a manager and shared my concerns. I went to the grooming aisle. Got a comb and combed the tiny mats out in less than 5 minutes. Jacob came into the aisle as I was finishing. ( I always use a comb on my doodle because it gets close and gets those tangles) They take the short cut at this location. It is so much easier to shave a labradoodle, instead of grooming it the proper way. And they charge the same amount for less work. The first photo is the day before the groom. The second is after I...
