I love the gym itself but Iāve been meaning to say this for a while now for when the basketball courts were open. Earlier this year Iāve been involved in an altercation on the basketball court with a guy named Thomas Dean. Iām not the only one whoās had an issue with this man, where he has an intention of hurting other people on the court making dirty plays on people acting like heās a clean player when he doesnāt even realize what heās doing. The last time I verbally spoke to him was when he was threatening me to go outside the gym and show me what a real foul is and had an la fitness employee be told this only for me to tell him the truth for him not to do anything but understand where I was coming from. In that same night, I had an older ex friend named Timothy Hightower Who pushed me in my face and was threatening to throw a punch at me. But had the same intention as Thomas Dean the trying to hurt someone to prove a point, especially one of my friends. I can understand it takes two to tango and it only takes two to start one fight, but Iāve been a member for 11 years and never have experienced 2 guys with one of them being my old friend start a fight with me all because I was telling them the truth of how we as in the people who were witnesses on how they donāt feel comfortable with them coming on the court and making it a game being the type of players they were which dirty and unprofessional. I already spoke to corporate about Thomas Dean and they said that if he starts another scene with any member that I would have to let front desk know and they can handle the rest. The only problem is is that Iāve had an issue to where I never started the scene before and I question this Gymsās ability to take action when needed. Especially when thereās an issue of kids using the emergency door to let other kids in and the memberships have not been revoked yet and theyāre giving second chances or as if it was anyone else they would be revoked. Whatās sad is that thereās cameras and no one thatās watching the cameras is saying that they shouldnāt do that but if I ever took that chance I bet you I would be the one being the target or anyone else that would deserve to be in that scenario. So the reason being Iām saying all this is because Iāve lost my hope in complaining anything to this gym where I can just go to corporate and they might tell me a better scenario. Itās a lot to put into this one comment and I would never say this being biased towards people. Which is why I would have witnesses who establish these cases to back up what Iām saying. Bottom line is that this gym has an inability to make the right decisions when it matters most. But willing to whatās right for them even if itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen going to this gym for a couple of years. Currently scoping out others, not because I dislike this one, but just to see what else is available.
I've preferred this gym for it's cleanliness and modern (new) aspect. Not that see anyone clean anything, but at least it LOOKS clean and you don't feel like you need to go to a decontamination chamber after you work out.
Equipment selection is plentiful. I'd say they just about have it all - would appreciate if they had a machine specific for cable flies, rather than just using regular cables - but that's me being picky. Every other LA I've been to has them, not sure why this one doesn't. They've got rowing machines in the cardio section (only 2 outside the PT area, but 2 more than I've ever seen anywhere else).
My ONLY true complaint with this gym is the volume of people. I go at 5 am most days and early on weekends but if I sleep in, I feel I might as well skip the gym that day than try to come in here during peak after-work hours. You'll probably have to park on the roof of the parking deck and will spend most of your time standing around waiting to use absolutely everything. If you dislike that too and can find it within yourself to be an early bird, or are able to hit the gym during standard working hours on weekdays (9-5) - then this gym will be perfectly fine for all your needs. Saturdays I feel get packed the whole day through from open to close, rarely have I ever seen it not packed on a Saturday. Sundays are a breath of fresh air since most people that attend this gym seem to pick Sunday as their rest day or something. Only plus side to when it's packed is that there's plenty of eye-candy while you wait for machines! ;) Just being honest!
I would certainly consider this to be my 'home-base' gym. Aside from it being close to where I live, the standards I'd look for are certainly there. In a sense, I find it pretty shocking that everything is as clean as it is with the volume that pours through there - especially since I don't see the staff clean anything...?
Lastly, people here are MOSTLY good with putting weights back where they go. Some places are horrible and you end up having to go so far to grab weights you might as well consider it cardio.
4/5. One star down just for the packed hours. But it's a highly populated area, so I don't think the gym itself can do anything about that at all. It...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI want to start by saying this is my person option of my experience. The gym is beautiful and lots of nice amenities. I am reviewing a one start after my free "Evaluation Session".
I was told when I signed up you'll get one free training session with a LAF person trainer to set up a workout plan, great who doesn't want that as they are first starting to work out... a plan to follow great. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. We spent the first 20min talking about my goals and the guy was very nice and knew alot about working out, I learned about the need to build muscle he took my BMI and was taking notes on a sheet I thought I would get at the end. We did about 20min trying a few basic things rowing, proper squats modeling, planking, pushups then went back to his desk.
As soon as we got back to his desk he told me I was in the lowest percent of their charts in a number of area (I'm not in bad shape just need to lose a few pounds) and then he went right into the sales pitch. I was told I was not going to lose weight or gain muscle unless I sighed up for a personal trainer plan that was a 6 month or 12 month commitment one, twice, or tree times a week at $65 a session. I told him I was interested in a trainer but I work for a non-profit and did not think I could afford it right now. He kept pushing and told me if I really wanted to change I could find places in my life to safe the money and should signup now if I was serious. I said again I needed to think about it hoping we would go to the plan I thought we were setting up... After I told him I needed time to think about it he took all the notes we were taking and my BMI info and overview sheet about my mini workout put them in a draw told me thanks and we were done.
We NEVER talked about what a plan could look like for me, just a few workout overviews in the mini session, which is why I thought I was going to set up a basic plan... this was a hard sell pitch and thats it. I got up and was so shocked that the receptionist asked me as I walked away if I was alright by the look on my face.
Again I think this is a great gym but DON'T take the "free" session its a wast of time and you'll walk away with little to nothing you walked in expecting and a lower...
