I am going to start this off by saying that I am very disappointed with my recent services and should have listened to my gut when it came to taking my Apple Mac Book to this "Franchised Store" located in a mall. They were not the place to trust with my laptop.
I spilt coffee on my laptop keyboard early in the morning and knew it needed to be cleaned right away. This laptop is both my personal laptop and work laptop so I needed it repaired within the same day. I called several places and gathered as much information as I could from all of the other local repair companies, but the reason I settled with Techy was because they had mentioned "Same day repair" in my initial phone call with them if I brought it before 3pm. I specified that the coffee had gotten into my computer through the keyboard and I wanted it cleaned so it did not get sticky.
I took it in around 1pm on a Wednesday and payed upfront for the cleaning service. As I was walking out of the building they said they would call me when it was ready or if they had any updates, I said no worries I will be by around 7 to pick it up as that is when the store closed. I arrive at 6:30pm only to be notified that the cleaning process hadn't even been started. With my laptop still put together sitting on their front desk, I had asked what all needed to be done still? They said that they needed some of the components to soak in a cleaning solution for 24 hours and then to have it dry for another half day. They told me they could give it back to me today as is (even though I already paid for the cleaning service) if I needed it back that bad within the same day or to come pick it up on Friday afternoon.
Friday rolls around and I arrive at the store to pick up my laptop. They mention that they did a health and wellness check on the computer and found no initial liquid damage and mentioned that everything seemed to work fine. Turns out that was not the case as when I arrived home I did a software check, keyboard key test, and computer health check and found a few issues. When I got to the keyboard key test, the keys on the left hand side of the keyboard would not work and were even stuck down unable to be pressed. I pressed a few more within the same area only to hear the dried coffee crunching under the key caps.
I called Techy to ask about the keys and why they were not cleaned. They said that is not something they do not do as they have had issues in the past with Apple Mac Books key caps falling off after a month of the repairs being completed. I proceeded to ask more questions such as why was I never told that they would not be cleaning the key caps if that is something that is expected with a issue like this, and I had also asked what did they clean if it was not the key caps where the coffee spilt in from. Their response to those questions were "We cleaned the mother board and around the key caps with a Q-Tip"
They offered to repair the entire keyboard for an additional $399 and said they would take off $70 since thats how much I paid for the original cleaning service. (By the way I called 2 different local repair places around town and asked the same question when it came to replacing my keyboard and every place said it would be less than $150 for the service and part combined. The keyboard part is $38 at most and at a repair service of $100)
This place is a scam with poor communication. I should of taken it to a more established, locally owned repair store than a "Franchised company located in a shopping mall"
I never mentioned it to them either but they cracked my laptop case when trying to get it off on top of everything. Their corporate office doesn't answer (called 4 times) and the people at the store offered no help or compensation for this...
Read moreWe took a laptop into them to have a broken screen replaced in August. They originally said the repair would take 1-3 days once the part was in with a quote of $140, $130 after a coupon deal the manager told me we could use. On day three, we called to see if it was ready and were assured we could come pick it up. When my roommate arrived, she was told it wasn’t done just yet and asked if she could wait 15 minutes. When she came back, it was “almost done”, could she wait another 20 minutes? After that it was half an hour, then another 15, which is when her ride said they couldn’t wait any longer. No one was able to get back until the following weekend. That’s when they charged $150 for the quoted $130 job, which had already been handled very badly. Because my roommate didn’t want to cause any issues, she paid the $150 and brought the laptop home.
Since getting it back: When powered on, the computer had to be shut down and restarted back from safe mode (hard to say if this is a Techy issue, but it hadn’t happened with this computer before this point) The bottom of the screen casing pops open regularly The casing across the hinge on the bottom half of the laptop is flat and settled on one side and stuck up about a quarter’s thickness on the left The back side of the casing across the back of the hinge falls open regularly, and tonight, officially won’t go back in place
Half of the frustration could have been avoided. All they had to say at that first call was “Sorry, it’s not ready yet.” They guarantee their work for a year, but I’m afraid to take it back and find out what else they can break while...
Read moreI am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your establishment on on 1/28/2025. As a paying customer, I expected a certain level of professionalism and truthfulness that was unfortuantely was not met.
My grandaughter’s MacBook Air was brought in for a specific problem, It turns out that my computer was never diagnosed cause you could not get it open without passwords. In fact, you stated Apple would not allow you to services these computers to be serviced without the passwords. This point was never made to me when I brought in the computer. When I went to pick up my undiagnosed computer your charge me $53.50. I was told it was diagnosed when it went to the back room but the computer was always out front where there is no charge.
I kindly request a full refund of $53.50of the amount I paid for no service.
I hope to hear from you within 10 business days before I seek legal actions
Sincerely,
Arthur...
