To beginâŚ
Machines - While they are brand new and âstate of the artâ Most feel incredibly over complicated and uncomfortable failing to hit the correct muscle group. A good portion of the machines feel like they were made for someone under 5â8â. Iâm not that tall, but as a 5â11â dude I have trouble fitting on some of the machines even after adjusting them. Specifically the row machines, they are WAY to close to the rear mirrors, but again, am finding my self hanging off the rear of the bench because of how small it is. There a a total of 4 different variations of weight plates spread randomly through the gym. While it isnât a big difference, there not all exactly the same and often result in imbalances in the workout. Personally, what I believe to be the biggest issue are the chairs in the dumbbell area. When preforming any overhead exercise I constantly find myself sliding off the seat of the chair. The bottom portion of the chair cannot be adjusted at its maximum height resulting in a flat surface to sit and nothing that pushes you towards the rear of the bench.
Management- The lower level staff are all very welcoming and a pleasure to deal with. My complaint is with one person in the specific. The short, blond older female manager. Myself along with countless other customers have experienced her rude and dismissive attitude dating back to club metro and still have to walk in to see her.
Ultimately, I think the issues listed above are not examples of laziness or irresponsibly allocated funds. I think the gym is in its earliest state and needs time to get the issues ironed out. Until then recommend sticking with neighboring gyms like Jersey strong or...
Read moreI was in town for around a month and was looking for a great gym to weight train. Iâm incredibly happy that I choose Freehold Athletic Club (FAC) and loved training at the gym!
A few highlights from my perspective: Signing up for a temporary membership is incredibly easy. Everything was self serve on the website and run through the clubâa app. The best part was early morning access via the app (4am). The front desk crew was also very kind and let me use a three day pass to ensure I liked the gym
The open floor layout is awesome. The gym used to be a mall dept store so the floor space is massive. I like that it never felt crowded even during peak hours, and all the equipment is spaced out.
the equipment is great! I was very confused by other reviews saying the equipment is cheap. The owners have a good selection of Panatta, Star Trac, Nautilus, and Matrix, which are all quality manufacturers. I loved all of the equipment and it was nice not to have just Hammer Strength and Life Fitness (like most chains). My only critique here is the cables arenât the greatest and tend to stick. A very small criticism, though. Some reviews also noted that machines arenât fixed. I noticed two pieces of equipment that were out of commission during the month I was there, and one I really wanted to use (Panatta hip thrust). Again, a very small critique bc getting this equipment serviced is a challenge at any gym.
If you live in town or are visiting like me, I struggle why youâd choose another gym. Nothing beats a local gym imo and FAC didnât disappoint. Iâm in town regularly and will visit this...
Read moreI typically donât write reviews about anything!!! But this time I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with FAC and to warn others to avoid this establishment. My experience has been consistently negative, marked by uncourteous staff, fraudulent charges, and unsafe conditions.
When my wife and I signed up for a pickleball and gym membership at $100 per month, the receptionist explicitly told me over the phone that there would be no sign-up fee. Despite this, we were each charged a $100 sign-up fee. I have attempted to resolve this issue by calling the gym and speaking with the General Manager, but I have received no assistance and was dismissed.
The gym's conditions are also a major concern. My wife was threatened with expulsion for complaining about the extreme heat due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system. On that very same day, a member passed out in the gym. Furthermore, just a few days prior, there was a fire in the sauna. These incidents highlight the unsafe environment and the unprofessionalism of the staff.
I have been attempting to get a refund for the fraudulent charges and have yet to receive any feedback. Additionally, I sent an email to cancel my membership two weeks after registering, only to be informed that I would be charged for August and September before the cancellation takes effect.
Given these serious issues, I strongly advise against...
