First off, I have travelled all over the country and world eating great food and not so great food. This place is very dark inside one can barely read the menu, 8 of us crowded into a space for 6! The bread was toasted dry, literally dry! I'm glad we had water! Although the wait staff were pleasant enough they were not trained well on table service. This means when refilling a water glass, do not cross in front of the customers face to pour! Always ask then serve between the guests makes it quicker and less intrusive. This avoids elbows or armpits in the face! Second, clear plates before bringing next dish! There was no room at our crowded table for the salads to be set down, so instead of removing the bread plates, the servers were looking at us to some how make room for the plates which were very large, not salad plate size at all. The worst was when the main dishes came and of course they were served on huge plates and once again they tried to put them down without asking if we were done with our salads, or if they could remove them so they could set down our dinner plates! One server was setting my plate down on my salad! I stopped her and said " you need to clear the table before you try to set that down. She replied oh I know, I was going to do that! I thought to myself really? With a plate the size of Texas in each hand?! So my family started stacking and holding the plates for them! Sadly I don't think it even registered with them what was happening! Food rating 3.5 All the different Pastas were well cooked and was al dente Red pasta sauce very watery almost no flavor must not have used very much spices if any. It could have been reduced more to get it to stick to the pasta. The spicy sausage was good The cannoli was very rich but the wafer that holds the cream was so hard none of us could cut it. All these things can easily be corrected by management it all always comes down to them. They need to know what's happening And how to correct it. The servers and wait staff are a direct reflection of the managers...
Read more[ Dessert ] Only 4 desserts (not written on the menu) and the cheesecake type changes every month. Cheesecake($6.95), Cannoli($5.95), Tiramisu($6.95), Spumoni(Italian ice-cream made with layers of different color)
[ Tips ] MONDAY kids eat free (kids menu around $6~$7) with purchase of regular entrée. If you have kids, this is the best day to come! The kid's menus have 7 pastas and 1 pizza. The portion is big enough for an adult!
Pasta TUESDAY is buy 1st entrée and get the 2nd one 1/2 off (No takeout orders. Dine in only). Their pasta could seem a bit expensive, so try it Tuesday! I have always taken my leftover pastas. Reheating it in the microwave and ate them the next morning. The pasta is still pretty damn delicious!
Wine WEDNESDAYS get 50% off for any wine bottle you order. When you bring your own wine bottle and everyone orders entrées then $10 corkage fee is not included (except for holidays).
THURSDAY is Cocktail Night so all the Martini's for $5 and premium well drinks! Starting a party? They have really good Martinis! I prefer sweet alcohol so I normally ask for light vodka/alcohol in mine. They taste pretty awesome!
[ Pros ] Everything is magnificent! I especially enjoy having their tonight's special!! Always full of surprises! You won't regret it!! A kid friendly restaurant. They give kids paper and a small box of crayons. The piece of paper has drawings for them to color on and even has the kids menu written on it! They now offer call ahead seating for parties of six or more! Even though it's a romantic place, they have several big flat screen TVs on the walls!
[ Cons ] They open from 510pm every day. The waiting line usually starts after 5:30 (waiting time 3040 minutes). The busiest hours like 7~8pm or during holidays the waiting time is an hour or more. People even wait before the restaurant opens (the floor smells bad like a wet cloth at this time). No reservations. It's dark inside so hard to take good food pictures! But it sure is romantic with Christmas lights and candles...
Read moreAfter cheering on the Rams at a game, my friend and I headed to Roma Cocina in downtown Fullerton for a much-needed meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was immediately welcoming and set the stage for a great dining experience.
Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated at the bar right away, without any wait. This seamless service continued throughout our visit. The staff were attentive and friendly, making us feel at home from the moment we sat down.
For starters, we ordered the calamari appetizer, which was a delightful beginning to our meal. The calamari was cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, seasoned just right to enhance its natural flavors.
For my main course, I chose the Parmesan chicken. It was a stellar choice, with the chicken cooked flawlessly and the Parmesan adding a deliciously rich flavor that was both comforting and satisfying.
In conclusion, I would wholeheartedly recommend Roma Cocina to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine in Fullerton. Whether it's after a game, a casual night out, or a special occasion, this restaurant is sure to exceed your expectations. I'm already looking forward to...
