My girlfriend and I decided to meet her friend for dinner here and we were not disappointed. We added our name to the wait list online while still home, which is such a convenient feature we wish more places offered. When we arrived the place was busy but we had a reasonable wait time of about 20 minutes or so, but definitely do the wait list thing if you remember.
Once we were seated, our server Katie was very helpful answering questions and offering per personal recommendations at my request. We ordered drinks as we waited for her friend to arrive. I got a Malibu peach martini which was excellent! It had the right amount of peach flavor with just enough alcohol flavor so it didn't feel like I was just having juice. My girlfriend got the salted watermelon margarita which was also pretty good. We ordered a second round of drinks coco passion for me and passionfruit spritz for my girlfriend and we both enjoyed these as well. Mine were both on the sweeter side which Katie warned me about before hand and I appreciated that. Hers was also good but tasted more on the juice side of things however still enjoyable.
We then moved onto our main course and decided to skip appetizers. She got the classic sliders with fries which was flavorful and not over done. I got the Maui pineapple chicken which has large chunks of pineapple and this delicious soy Ginger sauce that really elevated the dish with the jasmine rice and broccoli. It was a generous portion that was very filling and my girlfriend and I both agreed it was delicious. Her friend ended up getting a vegan burger and she said it was decent but not her favorite.
We then ended the night with dessert which I really enjoyed. I got the bread pudding which arrived warm, that was in a lovely sauce topped with ice cream. My girlfriend got the Oreo Brookie which was also warm and came with ice cream. We sampled each other's dishes and really enjoyed our experience here. I ended up also getting a corn tortilla soup to go and I tasted it when I got. It was actually very good and very cheesy from what I could taste.
The other thing that I really like about the experience is the convenience of being able to order your appetizers as well as your desserts from the tablet on the table. Allowing you to eat at your own pace and order your dessert when you're ready. Plus you get to pay and leave not having to wait around for a check you can also tip directly from the tablet. This is a big time saver as you don't have to wait when it's busy for pens or to have them bring your card back. All in all 8 out of 10 for me full experience wise tonight. Katie was also very nice and helpful so that added to the experience. Thank you Katie!
The atmosphere here is very lively and it was also Saint Patrick's Day night, so it was decently busy but not as busy as I expected. The bartender also helped flag down someone to get us spoons for our desserts when I asked and then they brought us spoons like twice as they forgot the first time, but not a big deal just...
Read moreRecently came here on a Saturday afternoon with my kids to have lunch. Ended up leaving without being seated. There is typically a wait whenever we come here, so I knew what to expect in that regard. Upon requesting a table for 3 and providing my cellphone number to a disinterested-looking front attendant, I was told the wait would be about 15-20 minutes and that I would receive a text message notifying us when our table was ready. I waited an extra 10 minutes (because the place looked busy and I was willing to be patient) before approaching the reception desk for a status update on our table, whereupon I learned from a different, senior attendant that my information was nowhere to be found in their system, meaning the bored-looking server apparently did not enter my number or entered it incorrectly, thereby wasting about 20 minutes of our time (I chose to wait the extra 10 minutes before inquiring, so I'll cop to wasting that portion of my own time).
To her credit, the senior server did immediately begin entering my information (for the FIRST time, evidently) into their system, but I told her that wouldn't be necessary. I was not about to waste another minute waiting around to, for all I knew, possibly be overlooked a second time. We left and I ended up taking my family to a nearby restaurant we'd all been meaning to try eventually but had not previously gotten around to visiting. The meal we had at Yard House's competitor was delicious and that establishment's staff was attentive and courteous.
Because we never got seated at Yard House, I cannot rate their food, however service left much to be desired in terms of making us feel welcome and valued as customers, and the atmosphere was so loud that even in the foyer, speaking at a near-shout was the only way to hear one's companions. I have no plans to return, as there are too many alternate dining options available within walking distance, and none of those establishments have ever forgotten I existed while I was standing within plain sight waiting...
Read moreLocated in the Gaithersburg Rio complex, this draft house prides itself on having an uncountable number of beers on tap. On a perfect early June Saturday afternoon, the place was packed and our party had to wait awhile to be seated. This restaurant is one of a chain of mass feeding stations trying too hard to be hip. Blasting trite classic rock tunes along with considerable diner sounds made for a truly horrific noise level. I don't know why these establishments won't invest in acoustic absorbing tiles and instead leave their ceilings exposed with ventilation ducts and piping to gather dust for all the world to see. Although the service was fairly prompt and attentive, the food left alot to be desired. I defaulted to a cheeseburger with a blue cheese topping imbued with bacon crumbles. I thought this would be difficult to mess-up, but I was wrong. I ordered it medium rare and other than a nifty little wooden popsicle stick-like insert indicating such, it was overcooked and the topping was extremely salty. A dining partner ordered the chicken with pancakes and the chicken was so hard and dry, you'd have to use a chisel to cut it. I had a couple of pricey Moscow Mules which were way too sweet and devoid of alcohol as far as I could tell. I got the impression that this establishment really doesn't serve serious food, its strong point is the beer selections. They can serve them in those super tall glass half yards with the bulb in the bottom which looks pretty cool. Forget taking the family here. This is a very loud, noisy watering hole with a lengthy bar. Too crowded, too loud and below average food make this a poor choice for dining. It's a sports...
