Had a lovely time at the Denver Greek Festival today! The atmosphere was vibrant, the music was great, and it was truly wonderful to see the local community come together and celebrate Greek culture. It's clear an immense amount of effort and passion goes into organizing this event, and it really shines through in the overall festive spirit. As someone who recently visited Greece (just last October, and heading back this September!), I went with an anticipation of experiencing some authentic Greek culinary delights. While the food was tasty, I did find some dishes to be quite different from what I experienced in Greece itself. For example, the Greek salad had lettuce, garbanzo beans, and what seemed like a very different dressing, along with very modest feta crumbles – quite a departure from the traditional, lettuce-free Horiatiki Salata found in Greece with its generous slab of feta and simple olive oil dressing. Similarly, the loukoumades, while delicious, lacked the syrupy interior that makes authentic loukoumades so unique and truly decadent. Overall, it's a fantastic local community event that captures a wonderful spirit. For those seeking a truly authentic Greek culinary experience that mirrors what you'd find in Greece, just be aware that some of the dishes here are americanized, adapted versions. Still, it's a fun day out and a great way to enjoy Greek music...
Read moreI know that everything must change over time, but this is not good. This festival used to have fun games, entertainment, things to do. Now it is just a crowd of WAAAAYY too many people standing around getting drunk and waiting over an hour for mid food. I felt bad taking my son for the first time after having gone for years and years with my parents and grandparents, he couldn't understand why we went through all of the work to get there (parking a mile away, no shuttle as they said there would be, 40 minutes to get through entrance line) just to have to turn around and leave because you couldn't even walk anywhere. Then they had to shut it down at 1:30 in the afternoon. Yes timed entry might be a solution, but also helpful would be to increase that 5 dollar ticket price because that just invites everyone in the city that is bored looking for a cheap...
Read moreThe food was good but the crowd was INTENSE. This is not an event for families or coming with group. It was a nightmare to get food, then having to hawk every seating area for table while wrangling a kid, impossible. We ate then left it was too much. Please consider moving to another venue or selling limited tickets per day. It was my husband's first time taking our kids like he did with his Yaya and we HAD to leave the second we ate. A 3.5 hrs ordeal to wait in lines,(parking, entrance (bought tickets online thinking easier Nope) , 35min+ lines for food, fight for table, eat and leave. I could do this at Park Meadows and eat at Renzios with less stress/time. Please move event or sell less tickets. So disappointed couldn't show the kids another side of their family better organization was needed...
