Montrose Farmers Market — Attraction in Glendale

I love Montrose Farmers Market...wonderful energy and a way to support independent farmers that grow clean organic crops ethically... I always pass by stands with "certified organic" slogans or produce that looks perfect and is offered in large amounts - they are not 100% organic and/or not ethically sourced. However, I do find several independent farmers that bring natural greens and grow ethically....I support them with pride over all grocery markets that overstimulate economy with mass produce and creation of a false "need" for instant...

Sweet & small & affordable. But don't tell too many people... Bring cash for some of the farmers. Highlights: Gérard's baked goods (he and his wife Cathérine own France Caffé in LaCrescenta), Papua Coffee, Julie and Jay's stands (best organic produce, apples, and peaches), and the good fish monger who talks like a rapper and has a heart of gold. I didn't care for this market at all. Not a lot of vendors, only saw 1 organic stall. Felt dirty, and it was terribly expensive! Like $6.00 for 2 medium cucumbers. This lady selling peppers sold me a basket with just a few mini Thai chilis for $5.00. It was such a rip off. Went across the street to Starbucks and it smelled like urine, the sidewalks were filthy! I felt like I needed to shower when I got home. Try the Farmer's Market in...
