They have a lot of good products, but I was super disappointed in my customer service experience. It was my very first time at Ulta and I was excited to start taking better care of my skin and learning how to do my makeup even if I'm 32. When I asked for help with some makeup suggestions, the lady that came up to help me (she looked like a manager.. short dark brown hair that couldn't be longer than 3 inches and was curled with a curling iron, probably late 40's, wearing tons of makeup) acted like I was a huge inconvenience to her. She didn't ask me anything about my skin type and only gave me one suggestion on under eye concealer. She blotted some under my eye and said, "This should be fine." I explained that I can still see some dark bumpy skin and asked her if I should use a foundation underneath. If so, how should I layer it? She acted super irritated and said, "I just put foundation up to my eye and put the concealer on the rest of it." Then she started walking away. That was so vague! Then I said "Wait! One more thing!" I want this tinted glow serum and don't know if I should use light or medium. I put one drop on each side of my forehead and I can't tell a difference. Without answering my question, she shamed me for putting a drop of product on my finger which I didn't know I wasn't allowed to do. She explained how she was going to have to damage the product out. I told her I would just buy both and I apologized. She looked at me absolutely disgusted and said, "You should go with the lighter one, but I really can't tell the difference and I'm not sure how that's possible because they are too completely different shades." But she said it in a way that made it sound like I put it on wrong. Still with a disgusted look on her face, she walked away. I tried to play it off but I was shaking. I felt like such a stranger and an outsider at that store. It made me feel super insecure and like I wasn't worth teaching. I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in here to use a gift card I got for Christmas. Not being big into makeup at all, I knew I wanted to try a contour palette but I wanted some help making a selection. I scoured the store for an associate, there were none. I went up to the checkout bar and asked for help. One woman said she would come right over. I thanked her and waited. And waited. And waited. After 20 minutes of her not showing I just decided to grab a couple other things I wanted and not worry about the palette right yet. I went to the checkout bar again and the cashier was talking with her co worker the entire time, didn't ask me if I found everything ok, (which I didn't) didn't tell me about any reward program like she did many others, she didn't even tell me my total, she just looked at me like I was supposed to guess and pay.. I'm pretty sure this store does not want occasional make up wearers in their store. Seems to me like they thought I wouldn't be buying enough stuff to be worth their time.. extremely...
