NOT BREASTFEEDING FRIENDLY!! Of all places, you would think a children’s museum would be one of the safest to feed your baby without judgement. Today I was asked to cover up after “several people” apparently complained about me breastfeeding my baby without a cover.
I honestly could not care less that I offended people and that they complained. They are welcome to cover their faces if they feel so offended by a baby nursing. What I do care about is the fact that the staff chose to ask me to cover up, making me feel awkward and uncomfortable for feeding my baby, rather then telling those who complained that I was within my legal right to feed my baby without a cover.
DO BETTER ALAMANCE COUNTY CHILDRENS MUSEUM. I have attached a screenshot of the law protecting breastfeeding mothers in North Carolina so you can educate yourselves, it took me all of 30 second to look up. I have also attached some beneficial information you can share with your staff so they hopefully make better choices in the future in addressing similar situations. Please take into account that no person or business who truly values the health of children and families would prioritize another person’s comfort over that of a breastfeeding mother.
To the patrons, there are much better museums in the area, please give your money to better businesses! Durham museum of life and science and the Greensboro science center are both far better...
Read moreMy kids love coming here because “the baby doctor office.” I detest going to this museum. I told my girls never again after today’s experience. You pay to take your children to a children’s museum to have fun correct? Well the little old ladies that work there are the fun police. They legitimately have nothing better to do but badger children and parents alike. I have 2 kids one 4, one 2. I had two staff members yell at me because I had both my children in the toddler area. First came some old lady with glasses complaining my 4 year old can’t play with any toys in the toddler area . She’s too big. She’s 4.& 35lbs The toy she was using appropriately has a 100 lb weight limit. I looked it up (farm hopper). Fat Shame children much? Then the manager came over and said how old is she and pointed at my oldest. I said 4. She said.”She can’t be in here. She can play outside the toddler area. “ I said I’m not leaving my 2 year old unattended or my 4 year old that’s unsafe. I told her I hate coming to this museum and that Durham museum is much better and zero nagging. Lastly I legit heard these old ladies when kids were painting “ don’t splatter” Also they hover and clean up everything while your child is using it. My oldest was engaged and having fun building a fort. Here comes the fun police, “ oh you have too many toys out. “ Y’all don’t go to children’s museum of alamance county....
Read moreCame here over the weekend. Place was small but super fun. Kids really seemed to enjoy themselves. However, I am with a friend and she has her 1 month old baby with her, in his stroller. Our older kids wanted to play outside so we stood under an umbrella to keep the baby in the shade. While we're standing there chatting away the top part of the umbrella came up out of the bottom part of the pole. I quickly jumped to grab it because it was flying toward my friend. This umbrella is heavy duty and came less than 1/2 a foot from hitting her son right in the head. Thankfully a man close by seen what was going on and helped to put the umbrella back in place. The button latch was broken on the umbrella pole. Two older woman who worked here came outside to see what happened to the umbrella. She asked if it hit anyone and we replied with a "No, but it did come right at the babies head, thankfully his stroller handle blocked it from hitting him." We didn't get back a SINGLE word from them. No apology, nothing! The man worked with the umbrella and the woman walked back inside once they were done. It really pissed me off. Everything at this place was great except for the experience we had and the way the woman handled the situation. Even though the baby was okay, and thank God he didn't get hit, they could have apologized to his mom. I felt like they were really...
