I'm glad that people have had good experiences there. For me, to call it awful would be a compliment. We decided to try out the DFW Capital One Lounge last Sunday (11/5/23). To say it was a disaster is an understatement. The "main" person seemed to barely know what she was doing, seemingly surprised that someone would pay to go into their lounge. That should have been my first hint. Her "assistant" appeared to be a trainee, and barely said a peep. We were ushered into this lounge and purveyed the food offerings. While we didn't expect 100% of the offerings, we did expect more than the "foo foo" type of things that they had, things I suspect most people's digestive systems aren't familiar with, the food itself and/or the toppings. We picked a seat over by the window so as to see planes arriving and taking off, and they were wobbly, as was the table. The fellow who showed us this location told us about the table, but didn't offer to do anything about it. When I asked about where to plug in, he pointed to the floor beneath the wobbly table, but I did not see anything silver, only black. At the adjacent bar, we were told that alcoholic drinks weren't served until 10 a.m., so we got screwed by that, got mochas instead and took turns filling their tiny plates with their small portion items, obviously their way of forcing people to return if they want to get enough, but frankly, what they were offering didn't include staples like French toast sticks, BBQ sliders, roasted carrots, cookies, baklava, and most of their other recognizable items. We signed up for upon arrival (6:15 a.m.) and tried their relaxation rooms about 2 hours later, but the assistant didn't tell us how to use them, there seemed to be a language barrier, and the nearby instructions missed quite a bit. Then, I made a huge mistake: trying their overnight oats, 2 of them, which were mostly whipped cream. When I arrived after an almost 4 hour flight, I waited in a four-deep line for their 4 restrooms, and again I was faced with this, except not it was urgent, as I was getting sicker by the moment. Once inside, both ends participated, alternating. I would return to said restrooms a third time, again awaiting 4 others in front of me. Then, a long trek to my gate for my next flight, reported a 15 minute walk but more like triple that, sweating and feeling sick for that 3 hour flight. BTW, I have been in a great lounge, my only other lounge visit: Seattle-Tacoma's Alaska Airlines main lounge, and it was stellar. This was the opposite: too many foods advertised, but not available; no language about alcohol service (or I missed it); food that may have spoiled, 70s furnishings throughout much of this lounge;...
Read moreThis is my second Capital One lounge that I have visited (IAD was first) and it is very impressive.
My gate is at terminal C and this lounge is at terminal D, near gate D22. You are able to access terminal D from any other terminal by the skylink.
When I got there, I had to be put on the waitlist. Literally after walking for one minute, they texted me saying my seat is ready. So for me, the wait time wasn’t long. The actual lounge is upstairs, you take an elevator, and it’s right next to the American Airline lounge.
From the front desk staff, to the waiters/waitress, most bartenders, the employees are overall very nice and accommodating. They do have a lot of staff members. I had one bartender that made me feel a little uncomfortable, not sure if he was having a bad day or because it was busy time, he had a colder demeanor, kind felt I was a bother to him when I was trying to order a drink, didn’t feel like going back to the bar after that.
I spoke to one of the employee and he mentioned that rush hour is normally between 3pm-7pm so it can be a little tricky to find a table and chair of your preference, but there are still available seats regardless.
They have a lot more amenities compare to the IAD Capital One Lounge. Some reservations are required and can be made with the front host. They have a relaxation room where you can lay flat on the seat and take a quick nap - 20minute reservation required, I didn’t have a wait time. Shower room suite with Dyson hair dryer - 30minute reservation required - had to wait over an hour for my time slot. Multi faith prayer room and nursing room - no reservation required, first come first serve. They also have a yoga and cycling room to get your workout on.
Food here is amazingly delicious! A lot of options, something for everyone. They are small bite size portions but you’re always welcome to grab more. They have one counter for desserts, 2 counters for real food, one counter for the drinks on tap, a grab and go counter and a coffee/tea counter.
They have a grab and go counter for you to take food/snacks for your upcoming flight. Just ask the front host for a bag. They offer wraps, sandwiches, salads, dessert, drinks at their grab and go counter.
Can’t wait to visit this...
Read moreI'll start off by saying that I've been coming to this once amazing lounge since they first opened 4 yrs ago. For the longest time I've raved about this lounge for it's professional and stellar atmosphere despite it gaining significant popularity within the past years resulting in limitations of access to its amenities and lounge itself in general [May change when the upcoming C1 restrictions are enforced]. Unfortunately, I have finally been convinced that this lounge has lost it's place in my heart after my most recent visit...
On 6/27 at roughly 10:30 am, I stopped by the Grab n' go station to grab some goodies before heading off to my flight. A staff member came from the kitchen to replenish the refrigerated station while an elderly gentleman in front of me and I were picking items out for our provided paper bag. As the staff member was loading the shelves, I witnessed her rudely (and frankly unnecessarily) tell the elderly man, "if I don't put any then you no have any to take". Although this may be true, she was extremely argumentative, aggressive, and disagreeable. The poor grandpa who did not speak English well was scared off without taking any items off the shelves. Similarly, I was on the side reading the ingredients of what was in stock today. I grabbed a reuben sandwich and she confronted me by asking, "are you late for your flight? Are you leaving now?". I was astonished and replied, "Excuse me, yes I'm on my way out". She rolled her eyes and with all the attitude in the world said, "then HURRY UP!". I was in complete shock and replied with a glare, "Respectfully, ma'am I'm reading." I was prepared to escalate the situation and I believe she quickly realized this. She muddered, "ohh wow he's reading. Great." as she stormed off back into the kitchen. This extremely negative encounter with her was not how I was planning on starting a vacation I had been looking forward to for an entire year.
I hope she finds peace and that management keeps her in check and/or decides to change her out because she lacks any sort of customer service skills and should not be in front of paying customers.
As for the lounge, I miss its glory days but even the sun sets...
