This was our staging and starting point for a 4x4 run call Empire miners that ended around Chalk Bluff staging area. Really nice run. Also a great place for area hikers, place gets full about 9am.

I've lived in the area 2 years now and just discovered this trailhead. So many trail options, and not a lot of foot traffic. Beautiful! I'll be back!

This trail was beautiful. Some dog and horse poo were left along the trail, but not enough to ruin our fun.

Lots of dogs, people and horses today. The park has miles of trails, at least 6 mining ruins, a seasonal Creek and lots of wild flowers in the spring. Parking and trails are free and maps are available from the Empire Mine visitor center. The pictures show what is left of the hand rivited 22 inch diameter water pipe that was built in the 1880s to take water from the reservoir below the club house at the Empire Mine to the North Star Mine. The water was used to power both mines replacing...

The Hardrock Trail is part of the trail system of the Empire Mine State Park. But unlike the access at the park's main entrance to the historic mine structures, which can be found .7 miles down the road, this trail head has no entrance fee and features plenty of free parking. It offers easy access to a lovely, relatively flat, two-mile walk, with other trails branching off of it; a beautiful place to do some concentrated...

I belive you have to contact empire mine regarding getting access for the horses. You can head to Empire Mine as well and check out our county's history in...
