I paid $77 a night for my pup to stay in one of their "luxury suites" for the weekend. I am glad I opted for this option for the mere fact of being able to monitor him on a live webcam as if I wouldn't have, I wouldn't of been able to witness the neglect my dog faced in a facility that supposedly cares about the animals staying with them. My first experience was watching as he was first thrown in to the kennel and his toys were thrown over the top gate pelting him. Then throughout his stay, I regularly monitored his camera because I had already figured the treatment he was going to receive. On multiple occasions I had to contact the facility to tell them to clean his kennel as I monitored multiple examples of him being left in his own filth for hours on end. My dog can regularly hold his bladder and bowels for up to 8 hours at a time, and is very well potty trained. So the fact he had used the bathroom in his kennel multiple times tells me he was going very extended periods without bathroom breaks, if he was being let out to potty at all. Another "benefit" of this outrageously overpriced suite was a report to be given to me, to show his activities during his stay, I payed extra for him to get one on one time to play with a member of the staff as this was his first time in a facility like this. The report I received was vague at most. It showed a picture of him, looking terrified sitting in his kennel, with the description of "he was happy playful and friendly, and enjoyed his time with our staff". But not an ounce of proof was shown he was even given the opportunity to participate in these activities, and from my perspective checking his webcam every 15-20 minutes during my trip, he VERY rarely was let out of his kennel for an extremely short period of time (5-7 minutes). Though the staff was always friendly when I would contact them to provide him with basic care, it was clear from my view that either there was a major lack of effort on the staffs part, or the facility was so grossly understaffed that the employees were merely not able to keep up with the demand of the insane number of animals that it houses. Upon picking him up, and taking him home to inspect his condition, I found he reeked like urine, had feces imbedded in the bottom of his paws, he was dehydrated, and frankly seems traumatized from what he's experienced.
Now I would like to clarify, I cannot attest or speculate on the treatment of every animal in these facilities as of pet suites as a company . I do not expect my animal to receive any special treatment or attention per my viewpoint. But I feel for paying for an upgraded kennel at a very inflated price, he should receive very basic care at least, as any one of their clients should. I should not have to see him sit in his filth for hours on end, even after witnessing employees look into his room, with very clear signs there's a mess, and choose to ignore it, to only have it remedied after I have to contact the facility. I also believe in the case of this program, if I pay extra for him to get an added amenity as one on one play time, I should be shown proof that amenity was provided. I cannot say whether this service was actually provided or not, nor can I give incite on the duration or activity's performed if the service indeed was provided.
Finally I will state that while this review is based on my personal experience with this facility, I do not intend insinuate every animal who is taken care by this service/company is treated the same way. I write this review to merely share my experience and my thoughts on the care of my animal to bring transparency to any future potential customers. I'm sure like many others, I take the care of my animal very seriously, and my final opinion is, based on what I've experienced with petsuites in Greenwood during his stay, I cannot trust his care to them again...
Read moreThis was our first boarding experience. My senior pup is a rescue that I have had for about 2 years. He's sweet, quiet, observant, cautious and a bit anxious in new, unfamiliar spaces. He thrives in a loving environment where those around him are kind and patient. He likes meeting friendly people and have had no issues at the vet, stores, pet hospital, park or on a walk, saying hi to a friendly person wanting to meet him. I should've known our experience wouldn't be a pleasant one when he didn't want to greet the employees at drop-off. He actually kept his head down and moved away when approached. I felt uneasy, but was already scheduled for work a state over. I called a few hours after drop-off to make sure everything was okay prior to starting my work trip and was told he was okay, seemed anxious, but okay. I called 2 days later to checkup on him and was advised he wasn't eating. I expect a pup in a new environment may not have an appetite, however I found it odd that I wasn't notified and at least asked for suggestions to get him to eat. A pup not eating for 2 days is not okay. Are concerns only shared with owners who purchase the luxury suite or is there an add-on package available for this? I tried calling back a couple hours later to give suggestions to help him eat, but couldn't reach anyone, so I ended up sending a text message and received a quick response informing me that my suggestion worked and that he immediately started eating. I then responded via text, asking if a note could be left on his cage so others feeding him would know what to do and received a "yea!" response a couple days later. Texting seemed to work, so I responded inquiring about my pup again, but didn't get a response. I called the following day and was informed he wasn't eating and rubbed his nose raw trying to bury his food on his bedding. Again, I was not called or sent a text and apparently a note was not left informing others of his eating preference. I have never witnessed this behavior, of him burying food. If food is on the floor he picks it up and eats it. He has used is nose to try to clean up liquid substances like water, waste or vomit, not food. This led me to wonder whether he was being taken out for his 3 potty breaks and whether his cage was being cleaned daily. It was also brought to my attention that he wasn't eating because the suggestion given 3 days prior was not being continued. This is another reason why I find it hard to believe he rubbed his nose raw trying to bury food. The bowl was still being placed too high for him and not on the floor as we discussed. Why would a hungry pup who has had 1 meal in 5 days try to bury food placed too high for him? I would not feel comfortable recommending this location to anyone. I dropped off my XL pitbull (85lbs) for a 14 day work trip and after 7 days, picked up a L pitbull (~75lbs). His harness has always been set at the largest setting for a snug fit, but now is extremely loose. His collar and seresto collar are also loose fitting in their usual setting. I could see the outline of his spine while standing over him, for several days after picking him up. It's been about 2 weeks since I've picked up my pup and he is getting back to his regular self. I can no longer see the outline of his spine when standing over him and he's eating after easing his tummy into taking food again. I'm grateful I was able to pick him up early. I can't imagine what could have happened had I left him there the...
Read moreWe have been using PetSuites since they first opened in Greenwood and I can honestly say, they are by far the BEST place to board your animals. Both dogs and cats. We have tried other places prior to them opening and just did not like how the places were ran or the staff that worked there.
At PetSuites, the staff does such an amazing job taking care of our 4 special need animals. Between the endless amounts of medications my furbabies must take, to taken my "please do not feed any treats to our yorkie" (who has pancreatitis) seriously, they are awesome. Whenever our dogs used to board at other locations, they would come back scared to death, massive weight lost and overall unhappy. At PetSuites, that is never the case. I can text them any time (during business hours) to get an update on how they are doing. They even break down bowel movements. It is truly the one place that I never worry about my pets. We always go for the townhouses for our pets, because they are bigger and come with TVs, extra potty breaks, and they are usually upfront.
We recently adopted a Deaf Australian Shepherd and we used their puppy daycare service. HIGHLY recommend! It is such a great service if you're wanting to socialize your dog and keep them out of the crate while at work all day. Even after she graduated, we continue to use their doggy daycare where she still has her rest breaks after playing and breakfast/lunch/snacks. Again, another amazing service that I recommend.
When it comes to the staff, I can not stress how amazing they are with our pups. They always remember your pups, which is insane considering how many dogs/cats they have coming in all the time.
