Quick stay in our room during this trip. It was nice, clean and cozy! The only thing I didn’t like was the noise in the morning from workers but that’s from staying on the first floor. 7/10 ⭐️ #indiana #roadtrip #hotel #travelugc #ugc

Upon arrival everything seemed okay. My husband and I checked in and went to the room. I am a clean freak, especially when it comes to hotels, to I put the suitcase on the shelf by the TV, and pulled the sheets and bedding back, searching for signs of bugs in cracks and everything. I didn't see anything at that time. We took the kids in the pool and went to dinner. Went to bed and my daughter wanted to sleep on the couch, and my youngest son wanted to sleep in bed with dad because he was close to the TV. I didn't mind having a bed to myself. And after waking up in the morning I'm glad I slept alone. I felt a strange cluster of bumps on the back of my ankle and they were super itchy. I took a picture, and sent it to my sister, my mom, my friends and I googled it to see what they thought because I was certain it was bed bug bites. I stripped the cover off the bed and sure enough saw what was an exoskeleton for a bug. There was also an exoskeleton in the bathroom on a towel as well. I immediately packed up our belongings and went to check out even though we were going to stay another night. At the desk I asked for the manager to come to the room so I could show her the exoskeleton and show her my bite without causing a scene. She said she was going to get an exterminator out to confirm whether it was or wasn't bed bugs. And that would be the decision if I would be refunded for our stay. Needless to say, unfortunately the general manager sent me an email and although they in my opinion falsely claim cleanliness and guest satisfaction is something they strive for, he said per their policy I wouldn't be getting a refund. Regardless of if it's a bed bug, or something else, I was still bit by a bug in their hotel and it should have been handled differently. I personally would have felt a little better getting a refund, considering I took all our belongings to the Laundromat and deep cleaned the car. All of which cost me money.

We checked in with our soccer team and checked out the same day due to finding bed bugs. The front desk staff was rude and disregarding of our findings ( have photo proof). We then received bills for our "stay" that we were only there a few short hours for before finding the bed bugs. Hilton corporate and the manager at Home2 Suites by Hilton Indianapolis South Greenwood- Kyle has been unresponsive to our issues. I was traveling with my young children who have hypersensitivity to bug bites and now are showing bite signs and symptoms. Do not visit this hotel if you value your health and safety. Alexandra at Hilton corporate was also unhelpful and could have cared less. I will never stay at a Hilton again.

Bed Bugs

I hate to leave a review with the dreaded “B word” but unfortunately we did encounter them in our room. My review is 4 stars (1 knocked off due to bugs) but im still giving 4 stars because of how the hotel handled the issue. I brought the bug down and spoke with the receptionist and the manager they were both polite, apologetic and took the situation seriously. They assured me they would be contacting their pest inspector to get the issue taken care of and they offered to refund us for the night. We checked out and headed home to decontaminate. Luckily we had not packed very much stuff.

My mom has worked in the hotel industry for over 20 years, so here are some tips I give to people:

  1. It doesn’t matter how nice or how clean, all hotels, even the super ritzy ones, will at some point in their lifetime have a case of bed bugs. Thats just how it is.
  2. Bed bugs are brought into the hotel by people. Bed bugs ride in on the luggage of guests who have already encountered bed bugs somewhere else, be that their home or another hotel.
  3. Always, always, check your room before bringing your things inside. (Me being a dummy, I did not do this during this particular stay and we stayed 1 night before realizing there were bugs). The eggs look like a tiny grain of rice with a black dot at one end, they are about the size of a seseme seed. Baby bugs are white/clear and as they grow they turn darker as they feed and fill with blood. If they have fed they will have a black area on their body that is the blood they have ingested. Their droppings look like “pepper” or black dots and when moistened and smeared the droppings smear a rusty brown since the droppings are made of blood.
  4. If you ever find evidence do not destroy it! Save it so that you can bring the evidence to the managers attention. Unfortunately a lot of people try to get free stays by saying (at the end of their stay) that there is bugs when there isn’t, and they try to use photos they download from the internet as their “proof”. So never destroy the evidence, always bring it on a paper towel or tissue to the manager that way they can initiate the proper steps to take care of the bugs. You can also put the bug “evidence” into that plastic bag they provide for the ice bucket if you are not comfortable carrying it in a paper towel/tissue. If possible do not leave without talking to the manager, at the very least the receptionist, its super important to try and get the issue resolved in person so they can get the ball rolling on bug treatment asap.
  5. If you check the room and determine its good to go, I still highly recommend setting your luggage on a luggage rack, dont set anything on the floor, bed or furniture including your shoes. Place them in your luggage or at the very least, on a counter top.
  6. If like me, you discover bugs after already spending the night, if possible it is best to check out and go home to decontaminate. If you move to another room, or to another hotel, there is the possibility that the bugs are already in your luggage and you may spread the bugs making the problem worse. If you are unable to go home then it is best to change rooms until you are able to.
  7. High heat kills bed bugs. When you get home dont bring anything inside. If possible undress in your garage and put everything that can be washed into the wash on the hottest cycle and then time dry (not sense dry), time dry on the hottest heat for an hour. Throw away anything you can’t heat treat. Or research freezing methods for freezing items in ziplocks, I personally don't trust freezing and would rather throw away and replace items. Replacing those things is easier and cost less money than it would to successfully exterminate bed bugs in your home if they were to get in. You can also leave things in your hot car in the summer heat to “bake”. Take a shower to wash off the heebie jeebies. Its not likely any bugs are on your naked body, as they do not live on people, but the shower will make you feel better.

Modern hotel with convenient location and clean rooms and nice breakfast options.|We normally travel with our pet and stay with another hotel brand and decided to give Home2Suites a try. And they did not disappoint. |I called a day before arrival to make sure my special request was noted and to get some additional information. I spoke with Aireyanna who answered all my questions and reassured me that I would be happy with the hotel accommodations and if I wasn't to make sure I bring that to their attention. Before hanging up she shared she would be working during our stay and looked forward to meeting me. |Upon our arrival Aireyanna was working and greeted us with such enthusiasm that you would have thought we were at some expensive luxury hotel. She answered all our questions and provided additional information about the amenities.|All of the rooms are suites, so they are very accommodating that allowed us and the fur baby plenty of space to spread out and relax during our week stay in Indianapolis. |The location was perfect, roughly 15 minutes to downtown where we caught a Colts game on Sunday and visited the canal walk on Columbus Day (wasn't very busy so moved around easily). |There was a Walmart close by but there is a variety of shopping and shopping mall within a 5 - 10-mile radius.|I would like to emphasize the EXCELLENT customer service Aireyanna provided us during our stay. It was so refreshing to experience that as it's hard to come across in that industry anymore. So, I would like to Thank Aireyanna again for her attention to detail and her desire to make sure every customer that comes to that hotel receives the best customer service. I would also like to mention the staff that operates the breakfast area. They provide a variety of options and that in itself saves $$ vs. having to go out to a restaurant every morning.|I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again. |Arieyanna good luck with your schooling and with your attitude you are going to make an AWESOME teacher!||We normally travel with our pet and stay with another hotel brand and decided to give Home2Suites a try. This place sucks! Let's be real. My wife and I chose this location because I'm from Indiana and thought ..THOUGHT this was a great location. To be honest the location is the ONLY thing that works for it. I gave it a 4 because the traffic light was out the whole time and we had to double dutch our way into the left turn. But let's get back to the day time management and staff. Not going to name drop because people should have their own experiences. But I'm sharing mine. When we came in on the first night my wife and I saw a bug in the room which was so off putting. When we get to the room, we see there is no full kitchen which the description specifically states full kitchen. So with the bug and the 2/3rds kitchenette, I go and speak to the day time management. I ask about the full kitchen and they say they have to go and find the hot plate. When they bring the hot plate I ask about the pots and pans so we can cook, I find a very small and dirty pan in the bag with the hot plate. So we go back to the front to tell management and staff that we are disappointed in the room and in the false advertisement. Management was about to get mad saying there are no bugs in the room but my wife showed the picture which shut him. So we were given the option to move. Mind you all of our stuff is still packed so nothing gets in. We accept the offer to switch but since we were in the road for 11 hours we told staff we were going to to get something to eat, this staffer said ok and she would call when the room was ready and for us to take our time. About 10 minutes after we left she called and said the room was ready. No less than 3 minutes later she calls back and says management wants to know when we will be back so he can resale the room. I told the staffer we will be back when we get back. When we arrived I explained to the manager that he was wrong for calling me and asking me to get back sooner. Management said he was trying to resale the room and didn't want the next customer to be inconvenienced. I said I didn't care because we have been inconvenienced. He didn't care we were out out of the room, he just wanted to ensure the money was coming in. That's trashy customer service. To top it off he said the staffer didn't tell him we left. The staffer said he was the one that told her to call me and ask when I was coming back. The lack of accountability and poor definitely...
