I love this store as they have a lot of figures and gunpla to look at. The downstairs area being dedicated to gundam while the upstairs are for the figures. However, I have two gripes with this store. First of all, pre-orders take forever here. I know pre-orders take a while, but this figure I ordered was first expected a year ago (after almost a year of waiting) and it just keeps getting delayed and delayed, with no explanation on gundam planet's end! I had to reach out and they said it was a distributor issue (?) but it has been basically a whole year since I had to reach out myself and there has been no update. The figure on the site is still listed as coming next month, with it getting pushed back at the end of each month. It's very frustrating, I would've just ordered it from somewhere else had I known. Another issue I experienced is their customer service in the store. I went to pick up a different pre-order around the evening (6ish) and there was a girl working the register on her personal laptop. I got confused because I thought I was picking up the said pre-order earlier in my review that was taking forever, but it turned out it was for a different item I had purchased. I wanted to double check it was mine (because pre-orders take so long I sometimes forget what I got lol) and the girl seemed annoyed at me the whole time. It was a very off-putting experience as I wasn't being rude so I don't know where her attitude came from? Perhaps its because she couldn't be on her laptop browsing for the few minutes this interaction took place. I would rather visit the store during the daytime when the other staff members are working as I have never had an issue with them. I hope that next time I go I don't have to interact with her.
Edit: can't update with a new review/reply so i will answer here. thanks for clarifying the store laptop, although this interaction occurred in October. i understand its busy towards the end of the year, i worked retail too, but i don't think frustration should be taken out on customers. thank you for informing me about the list, i wasn't aware of this until now, the pre-order i placed was in early 2023, and the figure is a prize figure so it is under the unsure category where there is no set ETA available. i understand that isn't up to you as you guys buy from distributors and can't control their inventory, but it did get frustrating because i wasn't aware of the list (again thank you for informing me of it-- now i know for future reference) and i also saw this figure available for a while now on other websites that sell figures. i most definitely did place a pre order back in 2023 as i see it on my order history as processing still. i hope i don't come across as hateful, it was probably a bad day for that employee, but it doesn't sit well when you feel like a bother as a customer. again, thank you for...
Read moreIf you have an appreciation for building cool figurines, collecting, and admiring different models you build or what is shown in displays- Gundam Planet is where it happens.
Went here last night to the Hackensack location. Appears to be attached to a warehouse, however filled with a variety of Gundam plastic model kits, tools, from a beginners level, ones who collect, or others who continue it as a hobby.
There is a ground floor with blinds boxes of some anime favorites and video games, Gundam model kits towards the back area from many familiar shows to build. Upstairs there is a small table where individuals can build Gundam model kits, overlooking a giant projector on the wall at a show, and explore more sections with figurines, Gundam model kits and other fun items displayed.
I loved staring at the display cases. A few Gundam models inside the displays look so intricate and not sold in the stores because items were limited in quantity when it came to collaborations. It was cool to look at, gives you nostalgia for many who may remember the show or recognize some character favorites in the cases.
Great store for yourself or for gifts for others who appreciate Gundam models.
Helpful staff, all payment accepted. There are no price tags shown on the boxes, you'll find out your total purchase when you are ready to pay. Parking lot is small, more chance to find parking in the neighborhood.
The area looks small from the outside, however plenty to love and look at on the inside when you come to Gundam Planet....
Read moreStore has a lot of models to choose from yet seems to lack any good workers. I heard about this store and immediately got excited. I drove almost two hours to go see the store and pick up a good deal of models and supplies with a few particular kits in mind. When I walked in I didn't get so much as a hello, after walking around the store for about 30 minutes I had still not heard a word from the workers, not a tip, a friendly suggestion, and certainly not asking if I needed help. When I did ask for advice they seemed annoyed that I had disturbed the conversation the were having amount themselves. To top it off you get a card for every $10 you spend and when you spend $150 you get 15% off your next purchase. I spent $99 and they didn't wanna mention I was a dollar away from 1 more punch on the ticket. Oh and they forgot a small item and left it out of my bag ($5 wasted since I won't drive back) went looking to buy a few perfect grades, a Rex model 1/100 scale, and maybe some MG'S went with $550 intending to spend ended up spending under $100 just so the drive wasn't a full waste. Already told my local hobby shop about it all and a few decided to just shop for gundam models else where.
Tldr: great selection horrible staff that...
