I had an absolute blast learning the foundational skills (and then sometimes throwing them out the window) to improve from Ryan! Ryan is incredibly knowledgable, experienced, and skilled at teaching improv. Improv has always been one of my anxiety inducing challenges. I was one of those kids in theatre arts class that would NEVER volunteer during one of the improv exercises and was very happy if I wasn't selected to participate. Ryan's teachings and exercises were able to help me navigate through that ingrained fear and break through it. I ended up looking foward to his classes and thoroughly enjoying them. Ryan's class was not only informative, but hilarious. His feedback was on point and showed his dedication to the people in the class. He remembered small details from each of our exercises and his critiques were specific to each class member and helped elevate us. Another incredible delivery from Ryan, was his ability to give us examples on ways to think differently to elevate our improv through processes.    Read moreery week I look forward to improv with Howdy Stranger as it gives me the opportunity to let whatever stresses or worries of that week or day fall to the wayside and for two hours I am hyper present and able to enter the flow state and have fun with my fellow classmates. I have taken multiple classes with Ryan, some of which ended in a performance and others not and every time I take away new lessons, better understanding improv theory, thinking quickly, and also myself. I have seen the confidence and mental attunement of not only myself, but my fellow improv players grow and strengthen every class. Ryan is a wonderful teacher, whose passion for improv exudes into everything he teaches. While being fun, personable, and engaging, Ryan also has the ability to give excellent pointed constructive criticism that not only encourages you but makes you want to push yourself and believe that you can. I can’t recommend Howdy Stranger...
Read moreThe best part of Howdy Strangers was how quickly a group of strangers bonded and started to create, stretch, learn, and laugh. Ryan's warm and encouraging personality kept us at ease as he taught us the intro principles of improv. His helpful, detailed and encouraging feedback after each segment allowed us to learn and improve as each week progressed.
I looked forward to every class with a sense of excitement and giddiness, not knowing what direction it would be going in; a great practice for life, and thinking on your feet. If you're looking to stretch your creativity, meet new people in the comfort of your home (at least for now), I would definitely recommend signing up with Ryan and Howdy Strangers for this 6 week intro class. You have everything to gain, from comradery...
