I rolled into HF tired, gritty, hungry & w/ out a reservation late on a Sunday afternoon in late June after having ridden 60+ miles on the C&O Canal. The place looked charming from the road side, and the second story reception was like stepping back in time to a country store. There I met Glinda, who showed me the last hostel room available on the top floor, with a shared bath on the floor below. It was clean, tidy and had A/C (which looked suspect, but worked fine). Being exhausted, I could hardly fill out the registration form so Glinda kindly led me to the front balcony, told me to take a seat, and gave me an ice cold bottle of water. As I recuperated, she filled out the registration form for me. I was concerned about safe bike storage, so she led me to the back patio where I could lock up out of street view. She also let me use the hose in the alley to rinse down the bikes (and myself, since I was too filthy for the shower). The kitchen was about to close so she asked me if I liked veggie lasagna as they had prepared a huge tray for another group and had lots of leftovers. I wolfed down 2 heaping plates for $14 cash. It was delicious! There were also freshly baked muffins (no fat, oil, nor butter!) that were equally yummy ($2 each). The shared shower room was clean, as were the towels, and had plenty of soaps/shampoos galore. The shared bathroom next door was clean & tidy, and looked to be recently remodeled/updated. The bed was comfy and sheets/pillows clean. I slept like a baby and didn’t hear any disturbances inside or out. The kitchen wasn’t staffed on Monday morning so Glinda recommended Battlegrounds Cafe across the street, which was superb! I used the kitchen after hours to clean out bike water bottles and make a cup of coffee on a Keurig machine, and the place was spotless. I had not know about the Inn’s “Hotel Hell” fame with #gordonramsey beforehand but that must’ve left a lasting impact as I encountered a very tidy, tasty, pleasurable and affordable operation. It’s quaint, cozy, and on the rustic side, but great value-for-money. I’d readily visit again. Great job!

--*Multi-generational family travelling*-- The 1820's Suite--We've stayed nearby before, but staying IN TOWN was a whole new experience. Waking up and walking out onto the patio right to high street was such a treat with the morning light. I loved being able to disconnect as there was no T.V. or phone in the room. Because we had kids (8 & 12), I was happy to be on the bottom floor because the kids aren't the quietest, but this place is so family-friendly! There are games in the room like pictionary, checkers, mancala, etc. But outside, there were cornhole boards and a tether-tennis game that fit perfectly in the front space, and the kids had a blast. If you've ever traveled around Europe, this place has that same vibe and we loved it! Karan and Glenda were incredible hostesses and were a goldmine of information & conversation. I love the kitchen setup! The marketplace has just about anything you'd need and you can take over the kitchen to cook whatever your heart desires. My kids joked about making a cake, and the ladies said we could if we wanted to and how other people HAVE! She said as long as the hard stuff was scraped, they would take care of the dishes. The location could not be beat; up the hill is the churchyard and Jefferson Rock, and below is the river and train tracks. It's even a neat place just to sit and peoplewatch from if your legs have had it with all the hills/stairs. The kids were ecstatic to find the bunkbed, and my mom said the daybed was really comfortable. My kids got into a spat before bed one night so my daughter moved to the couch and said it was really comfy too! The main, big bed was firm, and there were plenty of blankets to keep everyone cozy. The bathroom was a step down into an old hallway that was closed off, and a wet bathroom put in, which was really neat and super clean. There was an inner staircase for us to go up to the kitchen/reception for our coffee/tea, and the kids loved spotting the old-style keys along the staircase.

Enjoyed our stay and would stay again. We had the Appalachian Room, nice with its own bathroom (some rooms do not). Took a bit to figure out how to turn the heat on the fireplace logs (electric). Bathroom was very nice, with a neat shower and heat lamps in the ceiling. The shared spaces in the hotel are small but very comfortable. You instantly feel like you belong and are welcome. The staff was great - Glenda was a hoot, Karan was very nice and Ashlin and the housekeeping staff were very friendly and wanted to be sure everything was taken care of. You should be aware that this is an old building and it's full of character and quirks. If there is anything I'd like to see improved, it would be the door locks on the bedroom - they were getting pretty worn out and as someone who travels a lot, security is important to me. The room was very clean, the linens were fresh and we slept comfortably. If trains bother you, bring some earplugs, as you are in a town that sits on the railway and in which trains are part of the fabric. There are many nearby places to eat, plenty to see and do. Karan and staff have plenty to purchase in the hotel - from food, drinks and supplies, most at ridiculously reasonable prices. There was warm cider and cookies in the day and coffee and donuts this morning. Lastly, parking can be a bit of an adventure but the hotel website FAQs give you the correct recommendations. Overall, we didn't want to leave this am.

My family were only passing through Harper’s Ferry earlier this week when we had a tire blowout and found ourselves in need of overnight lodging while we waited until morning for a new tire. Hot, sweaty and absolutely frazzled I walked into Town’s Inn with my niece, nephew and dog in tow - very much expecting to be turned away. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised by this amazing place and our experience there. Karan, the Innskeeper, was so warm and inviting that she made it feel like a homecoming of sorts. Her calming demeanor immediately put me at ease and I can never thank her enough for essentially shocking me out of a panic attack with such incredible kindness. We were given a quite spacious yet comfy and cozy pet and child friendly suite that my family absolutely LOVED. It was packed with games and books and had plenty of space for everyone. The kids got the biggest kick out of the “secret passageway”, and my husband and I were in awe at the history of this magnificent property. What was initially a horrible situation ended up being the happiest of accidents as we enjoyed our stay so much that my husband and I will most definitely be back again when it’s just the 2 of us, and I will never forget the kindness and compassion shown to us by Karan and the rest of the staff at the Inn. These are wonderful people who run their business with love and it most definitely shines through. Cannot wait to come back and stay again!
