We showed up on a day they weren't giving tours not realizing but we're vacationing in the area so didn't check. We stopped by the office to see if they could recommend any similar attraction. The woman said she was not an official tour guide but wanted us to see the house. She took us through and showed us everything and explained what she knew of the history. Our young children were with us so not getting a really long boring history lesson was just what we needed. What a great time we had on our private tour. It is without question, a hidden gem. My wife and I were the only two on our guided tour, which was quite personalized, beyond excellent, and deeply informative. The structure and its many historical artifacts and pieces have been immaculately preserved, curated, and displayed. The John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion is an exquisite place to explore even if history is not your forte. Read moreThe young woman sitting at the desk didn't bother to look up when I entered the building to sign in for the tour, but another woman quickly came up to greet me and was very helpful...and friendly. The mansion is beautiful and transports you back in time. The tour was informative and the tour guide had the answers to all our questions. There were renovations being done to bring the mansion back to a period true state and we can't wait to come back to see how the changes come out.
