I very rarely write a negative review for something, but last nightās dinner was one of the most unusual dining experiences Iāve had. I actually pushed this restaurant over the Ukrainian one my partner suggested.
We started with the tostones. The toppings were decent, and the tostones were okay. They werenāt bad, but Iāve had much better. Something was missing, flavor wise.
My partner ordered the mahi mahi special in creole sauce, which was also good. I ordered the first thing on their mainstay entree menu (chicken). I was served decent rice and beans and two chicken cutlets. You know, like an influencer would meal prep for a diet. The menu said they were marinated in mojo sauce, which I love, hence the order. I ate one bone dry piece, and when the waitress finally got around to check in/ask us about dessert, I asked āwasnāt there supposed to be sauce on this?ā She pointed to the onion slices and said, āoh, the onions are the mojo sauce.ā Like⦠I was giving you an out because thereās NO WAY this is the dish as itās intended. Mojo sauce, if you are unfamiliar and also incapable of reason, is sauce. Iām assuming (hoping) it was pulled from the kitchen before it was finished. As I was packing up, I asked if there was any sauce I could put on it because it was dry. She said, āI can only think of chimichurri,ā which made no sense since the special across from me was seeping in creole sauce. At no point did our waitress apologize or offer to make any changes- in fact, she didnāt even check in until my partner was completely done with his meal.
Anyway, I shredded the chicken and added spinach, salsa, and cheese at home. While this was a pretty good save, it would have cost me $4 to make at home (not $22). And my chicken isnāt dry and sad!
I couldnāt help thinking about the $2 tamales Masa makes on Sundays, and how mad I was that my partner had paid for my food. I gave so many outs and options to adapt the meal and apologize, and it just didnāt happen. The food all around me looked good, so Iām assuming this young waitress was just incompetent. If that really IS your chicken entree, yaāll should be embarrassed. As a reminder, then chicken is already dead, and you donāt need to cook it to death a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo went here with a few friends for the first time and let me just say we were not impressed. We had a reservation for when they first opened, it was 4 of us and we were on the smallest table they had there. When we asked to be moved they said we couldn't because every table was reserved. Though no one was there at the time nor for awhile after. My one friend ordered an avocado salad that literally was only sliced avocados with 2 raw onions on top. I ordered rice and beans with chicken and the beans did not have taste and was like soup, very watery.. Being Latina myself I was very disappointed. We ordered a few things and they stated they were out of these items though there restaurant just opened. My other friend asked for an ashtray because we were sitting outside and they brought one almost the size of the table! The waitress wouldn't come check on us as often as she should have and the bathroom toilet did not flush. When she did come to check on us it was to continuously ask us if we wanted our check. I asked her is she was trying to kick us out and she literally responded, "yes but in a polite way because we need this table for someone else." We couldn't believe it! It was pricey for the food and service. Not only will I not recommend this place we will not...

I made my own dish of fried rice and Palomilla steak. She went to the cook and asked the boss. They didn't even blink. They just went to town and served up a nice plate of fried rice, steak, and a fried egg on top. Everybody around me looked at my plate, In awe, my neighbor tables asked about the meal. I told them, they just made this special for me. Alison came by multiple times and checked on me and the meal. She made sure that it was what I wanted and good. It was awesome. I finished by meeting and talking with the chef. He was very courteous and nice. I thanked him for going above and beyond. I also told him how nice everybody was. The restaurant is cute and in a really nice little area of town. This place is way bigger than you would think. They have an upstairs and outside seating. The Parking is really tough. But they have arranged a parking agreement with the Quality Inn, one block away. Nice. So, nice place, clean, and cute. The food is great. The service is fantastic. Parking is arranged. I highly recommend this little diamond. Come on by and get yourself a mojito, and some...
