Having resided at 1 Harrison for three years, my overall experience was largely positive, earning it a solid four-star rating. The apartment itself was wonderful, and despite the large number of units in the building, the level of quietude was remarkable, often making me forget the bustling community around me.
One of the standout aspects of living at 1 Harrison was the exceptional maintenance team and the efficient structure of their operations. Any issues that arose were promptly addressed, with repairs being completed almost instantly. Special commendations to Jeff, whose attentiveness and pleasant demeanor stood out during interactions.
Nate, who initially leased our apartment, provided a personalized touch that was sorely missed after his reassignment to another building. However, subsequent interactions with building management left something to be desired, as they often came across as cold and dismissive, with limited willingness to accommodate resident concerns.
The amenities offered within the building were generally satisfactory, with highlights including a delightful pool area with an impressive sunbathing deck and a well-appointed shared space on the second floor. Despite the high occupancy, accessing these facilities was rarely an issue. The presence of two Peloton bikes in the gym was a definite bonus.
Additionally, the outdoor grilling and socializing area provided a fun hangout spot, particularly during the summer months. The location of the building, while slightly removed from other apartment complexes, offered benefits such as reduced traffic and a tranquil atmosphere. The availability of a shuttle to the PATH station and proximity to the Broad St NJ Transit station were also convenient for commuters.
However, one significant drawback was the proximity to a nearby club, Lit 21, which often disrupted sleep with loud, thumping bass until the early hours of the morning. While this may not affect all units equally, it was a notable inconvenience for those situated closer to the club.
In summary, 1 Harrison offers a well-rounded living experience with impressive amenities, efficient maintenance, and convenient transportation options. However, improvements in management responsiveness and addressing noise disturbances would further enhance the overall quality of life...
Read moreI moved to this brand-new building around two years ago and recently moved out at the beginning of summer.
If you were to ask for my review/# of stars during my first year, I would have rated 4/5 stars. The main staff (Nate and Danira) back then was both responsive and cordial. Fast forward to 2021, the quality of the staff’s interaction and attitude has deteriorated to a new low. The attitude that myself and most of the tenants I’ve interacted with (that moved around the grand opening of the building) have agreed that the quality of living in 1harrison does not meet the price you pay. I would describe it as a downward slope since I moved in. But I’ll share reasons why you should move in!
If you enjoy incompetent and unresponsive staff then this is the place for you! a. The current staff: Nibin and Jennifer basically does not care about you once you sign the lease/move in. To them you are a cash cow and once signed over, leave you to the dust. When you express interest in renting/moving in, they are responsive to the second. After you move in, you start to notice things broken, amenities not working, etc. and want to contact them. They will ghost you and if they do responds, they will delay the action, begging you forget. But they will remind you of rent the moment it turns midnight at the beginning of each month. b. Jennifer especially known for beginning unresponsive and unprofessional. The fact that she holds this position is baffling.
If you enjoy deteriorated apartment fixtures and amenities then this is the place for you! a. Understandable that quality of items deteriorates over time, but as a massive real estate firm, you would think they would fix it? Apparently in 1harrison they don’t believe in that.
If you enjoy the fact that the suggestion box is basically a shredder then this is the place for you!
If you like to go for a swim at the private pool but enjoy non-tenant folks coming in everyday, then this is the spot for you!
Happy to answer any comments – I never write reviews for anything but I had...
Read moreMy fiancée and I decided to check out One Harrison randomly without any intentions of moving there as we were content with our current lease in another building in Harrison.
We went to an open house and met Nate Howard, a leasing agent. I have toured every building in Harrison as well as many in Jersey City and I have NEVER met anyone as professional as Nate. Nate seriously was extremely personable and treats every prospective tenant equally by giving them the time and patience required when signing a lease. Nate lets the building speak for itself while assuring you that the BNE team is there every step of the way.
The buildings amenities are similar to many of the newer properties in Harrison (urby, steelworks, Cobalt Lofts) but you also get a beautiful river view of Newark (which has cleaned up), amazing staff, and thoughtfully created floor plans. The amenities are a tanning deck, pool, BBQ station, picnic area, bocce ball court, yoga lawn, children’s play area, 2 story gym with bike room and video training, conference center with private workspaces for work from home employee’s as well as a big indoor lounge with a kitchen and media room (tv). Additionally, there is a parking deck which is increasingly important in the Harrison area as it is becoming overcrowded.
If you’re new to the Harrison area, I would strongly recommend checking out One Harrison and to speak with Nate. It’s location is perfect as its a 15 minute walk to Harrison Path, 8 minute walk to Newark Broad and has weekday shuttles to the station. You’ll be able to live a luxurious life while paying a fair rent relative to the market.
I cant speak to the community yet, but with employee’s like Nate, I’m confident this property...
