Kalaepa‘akai Beach is a small and quiet spot that feels more off the beaten path. The shoreline is a mix of sand and lava rock, and the waves can be rough, so it is better for relaxing and enjoying the view than swimming. There are no lifeguards, no restrooms, and no shade, so bring what you need. The homeless population is noticeable here, and you may see people camping or hanging around the area. While it still has natural beauty, it does not feel as welcoming or cared for as some other beaches...

A tiny little spot in the middle of downtown enough to get your feet wet and see the boats go by. Closes at 9pm. Clean but...
