Kamuela Ace Hdwe & Crafts — Attraction in Hawaii

Love the super friendly and motivated staff at this Ace. Literally been shopping for miscellaneous... STUFF there since I was 10 years old, eagerly blowing my weekly paper route salary - sixty two bucks!, if I remember correctly - on frivolous items that I "really needed"... for one of my many hair brained ideas. The one that I remember most - and most fondly - was the steep and scary water slides that I precariously arranged on small hills in pastures nearby my home. Each slightly more perilous than the last, and limited only by the distance and height I could achieve by daisy chaining the bought or otherwise acquired garden hoses, the number of which steadily growing with each successive slide project. If id have been successful at cajoling the few friends I had nearby into landing their own paper routes or some similar source of weekly pocket money with which to purchase candy and other such supplies necessary for boys to have adequate entertainment during summer breaks, id of no doubt started extracting a percentage (a reasonable percentage, of course) of their wealth in the form of waterslide tickets and would surely be an amusement park mogul by now. Alas, that never came to pass, and now I spend my free time writing over-long reviews of local businesses, hiking trails, and beaches. Oh well, maybe...

“The Ace Promise” - lol, ya right.

Maybe I misunderstood what the definition of the word promise is.

I bought three sprinkler timers. One went bad after just five months. I was about to purchase the replacement when I happened to read the fine print on the back of the replacement item.

You decide - here’s what it says on the back of the box:

The Ace promise - if this Ace product, when used for its intended purpose, fails to give you complete satisfaction, return the item to the Ace Hardware store where it was purchased for free replacement of the same or similar item.

After waiting half an hour for them to honor this promise, I decided my time was more valuable than arguing over the cost of a sprinkler timer. Disappointing that Ace is not an honest or honorable company.

Home Depot, your service and prices are better. I’ll always head your way from now on!
