My first time visiting this establishment was on my birthday- big mistake. This restaurant was over priced and underwhelming. Upon being seated- honestly the most notable aspect was the view. My husband’s Macadamia Nut Chicken was cold from his first bite but he was so hungry he just barreled through. My best friend ordered the Seared Ahi Salad and it arrived with the saddest amount of ahi possible for the price. I ordered the Smash Burger as the menu is limited. The pricing was Waikiki level- clearly seeming to capitalize on tourists and not catering to locals in any way. I guess that’s the “Aloha Vibe”. Most items on the menu had a strong Asian flare which was kind of a turn off when looking for something not fishy/seafood inspired. Settling on the burger- was alright although my friend’s son got the keiki burger and they literally looked the exact same with the difference being the toppings. The price being 10 or so dollars difference. I’ve been telling everyone to save their money. The waitress was sincerely lacking as well. They’ll sell you an affogato martini but said twice they don’t do anything for birthdays when we asked if we could just order a scoop of ice cream for the occasion. The waitress was like ‘uh, no we don’t do that’… SO ALL THIS BEING SAID: I would recommend finding a higher quality place for the pricing and surely a better experience overall. The name...
Read moreSave your money and eat somewhere else. This place gave both me and my partner food poisoning. I found a long, black hair in my vegan poke bowl (just diced beets and sweet potatoes?), and the smash burgers were simultaneously dry and overly greasy. We couldn’t finish half the food before feeling sick, and for $95 (two entrees and two sodas) the quality was shocking.
When I called the next day to report it, I was promised a call back that never came. I later spoke in person with a staff member named Star, who was defensive and told me it was a “he said, she said” situation and that I should have reported it the same night—completely unreasonable since the food poisoning symptoms appeared later. The whole conversation was uncomfortable because he appeared to be upset at me rather than the experience we had at the establishment he managed. I calmly described the situation, while he fidgeted with random papers, avoided making eye contact, and offered no apology or reassurance. Not the 'quality dining experience' I was hoping for lol.
Not only was the food unsafe, but the lack of accountability and refusal to follow up is unacceptable. A restaurant should take reports like this seriously to protect...
Read moreWe stumbled on Aloha Vibes by pure chance, and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. The food was absolutely amazing, the kind that makes you stop mid-bite and appreciate you found the right place. The service matched the food, warm and attentive without ever being overbearing.
For some odd reason I had the strongest craving for a ginger ale, even though I rarely have any craving or despite it not being on the menu. Kyle, didn’t miss a beat. He whipped up his own version on the spot and it was so good we all told him he needs to bottle it and sell it on the market. That gesture alone shows the kind of care and creativity you find here.
We came to the Big Island after visiting all the other islands, and while Maui and Kauai have their charm, I always felt the food fell a little short. On the Big Island, we’ve had much better luck, and Aloha Vibes easily makes it into our top food spots in all of Hawaii.
A special thanks to every server who’s taken care of us, and an extra thanks to Kyle for going above and beyond. This place never...
