Rarely have I had a meal that differed so blatantly from the menu description (and in the wrong direction). You really expect us to believe that pieces of a small, muddy-tasting, catfish-like fish are a "steak" from a large ocean fish? That pieces of canned pineapple are half a fresh pineapple? Indigestibly greasy, saturated with flavorless brown sauce, and what sure seemed like frozen veg in both the rice and fish dishes, yet at a premium price (maybe they have higher prices for Ironman week). Fresh spring rolls were no worse than very average, but no better, either. The food is not toxic--that is, we didn't get sick--but this meal would have been mediocre at half the price. One full star of two is for the nice, airy setting and cheery (if stereotypical) decor. And no points off for the loud wrestling / MMA on the TV, as tastes differ, and I'm willing to chalk it up to local flavor. No points off for the vaguely greasy silverware and wet plates, either. I'm willing to bet no actual Thai person has ever, even historically, been involved with the menu, recipes or cooking. The person serving had the grace to look abashed when I mentioned the fish seemed to be "other than as expected," so we tipped decently (and resolved to save our unhappiness for the review). Our only notably disappointing...
Read moreHow can I describe exactly how bad this food was… I’ve had Pad Thai all over the world, and like pizza it’s nearly impossible to mess up. This place actually made it inedible. It came in a congealed pile that looks like it had been sitting for hours, it tasted like it should have been thrown out hours ago. In fact there was no real taste except for the fish sauce and even that tasted spoiled.
I also ordered some spring rolls with peanut sauce, I should have taken a picture because the size difference on the two spring rolls was so extreme it was almost like they came from two different restaurants- one was huge (nearly 6in long), the other was half that size. The peanut sauce was a sickly looking reddish brown that was completely inedible.
I’d never recommend this place even on my enemies. I had no idea anywhere could ruin Thai food so...
Read moreDon't go here unless you're tied and bound. We went in here thinking you can never go wrong with Thai food. Apparently you can. We should have turned around and gone somewhere else after seeing the restaurant was completely empty. Everything was disgustingly sweet like candy. Since the server had nothing to do, she just hovered around us. The papaya salad had orange papaya instead of green, and there was so much sugar that you could see the granules sitting on the spoon used to serve it. The fried rice was good surprisingly. So if you are tied up and bound, order the spicy fried rice, which wasn't spicy. Things on the do not order list are the pad thai, red curry with chicken, and the papaya salad. The food is very cheap though, so if you like your food on the sweeter side you may end up...
