I am not usually the one to write reviews. I am more of a "No review is a good review" type of gal, but the conversations and interactions I had with the workers and especially with the General Manger at this establishment were unacceptable that I had to write a review. So, I have enrolled in the membership program earlier this month. And I do see other reviews speaking about this establishment kinda forcing you to get a membership when you get the 3 day free pass, which it totally true. I personally had the same experience the 1st time I was here. I was with the General Manger and he told me that I had to pay extra to get the 2 guest privileges, which on the LA fitness website it said it was already included in the membership. I showed him this and his response was there's a "miscommunication" with corporate in regards to what is included in the membership. (Which, that is not my problem.). So, I had to haggle with the man for something that was already included in the membership and for something I did not want in the first place. I just wanted to use the 3 day free pass. But this is not even the worst interaction I had here and I barley been there a couple of weeks.
So, the reason I am writing this review is because of this interaction I had with the General Manger. So, to set the tone: I was speaking with a personal trainer about payment plans for the personal trainer program. Long story short, we agreed that he was going to give me two free sessions and then speak about payment around the 20th. I came in today to give this sweet woman my billing information and told her I will follow up with the personal trainer about the payment plan Wednesday (Jan 18th), like we agreed. And then out of nowhere, the General Manager just came out of nowhere and spear-headed his way into a conversation he was not in. Then he just told me that I needed to pay today. I needed to pay for everything today. And I told him that this is not what I agreed to with the personal trainer. Let me tell you, This General Manager made me feel trapped, crazy, and lied to during this whole "conversation". I never felt so disgusted about any conversation in my life!! Luckily, with enough back and froth, I was able to get out of this entrapping situation without being locked with any fees that I didn't agreed to. And it sucked because the personal trainers that assisted me these two sessions were so helpful, encouraging, and kind. I was open to the payment program, but after this interaction, I really do not trust anything that the personal trainer ,and especially the General Manger, have to say. So my advice to everyone is: do not sign/initial anything with these people until you have a proper agreement with them. To be firm with your No because they will wear you down until say Yes. I am a physical challenge so I swim and take a shower at disability shower because it is so convenient for me. There was stuff place in that shower without any one else. So the lady who was taking shower next door said, ā donāt remove these stuff because they are my sisterās but I saw her sister in the swimming pool. I walked to front desk and asked help to to tell her and explain the situation these front desk employees act like they canāt do anything about it. The lady said she just clocked out and the guy said he couldnāt go inside women locker. He said I have to wait until operation manager comes back from outside. So I went back to shower and the lady was inside disabled shower and didnāt not get out. I waited for five minutes and more. I walked to front desk again and asked front desk guy that when the operation manager will be back and I was with swimming suit and cold. He replied that he has no idea where she exactly was. I told him that your company already charged me from my bank account for membership so do something about this. So he called operations manager and a few minutes later she came back from outside. I explained the entire situation and she came to shower with me and the lady said her sister knee was hurting and claimed to be disabled. I was disappointed by that operation manager told me that next time if I need help call from my cell phone and I told her even I show up as person I have to go to front desk two times and anything I said they kept asking again and acted like they didnāt understand and when they were looking for new members they understood whatever I said. So, I told the operator manager that since the server is sucked please tell your company that not to email me every week to add family members or friends to join their club because I told her that I have this shower issues and dirty around rest rooms and around the pool and locker rooms since I come to this location but I didnāt complain because they didnāt seem cared. When i arrived i spoke with the receptionist and informed her that i am using the 3 day pass for the first time. She scanned it and told me to come in. Next day i came scanned my pass, then a man came to me and told that i need to speak with the sale representative. I went to speak w one which was a lady. She started saying that i cant use my pass because of covid and i need either to buy membership or pay 20 dollars for one day. I explained to her that i need to try the gym and several classes before committing. She replied that i already tried for one time and it is enough and started interrogating me for the reason preventing me from registering. I informed her tgat if this is their policy they suppose to update their website and not give any passes to their location and told her that this is not a good way to deal with people and that i never had similar experience with other gyms. At this time another sale representative intervened and started talking in a rude and insulting manner that i can use my remaining two days and thats it. I told him that i dont want anymore to try the gym then he replied ā ok you can leaveā Then he started blabbing about me being aggressive and about coming the day before and entering without talking to any sale representative. I explained to him that this is their job to come and talk me and that i already informed the receptionist that this is my first time using the pass. All this happened in-front of my friend who I brought to try the gym with me and see if it is a good fit for us. After this encounter, my friend and I decided that we will never register with la fitness at hawthorne location even if it was the last gym available. Now i could understand the bad rating that...
