I went in for a facial expecting to pay the introductory price of 79.95 only to find out they sneakily tacted on an additional charge without my permission. The receptionist was very friendly but once I got into the room for my facial it felt rushed and nothing was explained. The esthetician immediately asked if I wanted to add on any services. I didn't know since it was my first time there. She rattled off a few services and I opted to add the Microdemabrasion for 50 more dollars because I thought that's what I needed. She got started on the facial and then told me she completed the Microdemabrasion. It was mainly used on my cheeks, she didn't even go over my nose with the device which is my most problematic area. Then she proceeded to tell me that the Microdermabrasion wasn't the problem and that my pores were very congested. She said she was going to put something on my face to help her clear out my pores. That is all she said. I assumed this was just the next step in the facial that she was explaining to me but I later realized once I saw the bill that this was her sneaky way of adding an additional 30 dollars for "facial clarity". Never once did she ask if it was okay to add this service and she definitely didn't tell me the price. That is enough to make me not want to come back. So shady. You would think she would have evaluated my skin in the beginning and made a recommendation of what I need. I would have happily paid the extra 30 if she were honest and went over everything in the beginning, it's not even about the money.
The facial itself was not good, I've had way better. I definitely couldn't imagine paying the full rate for what you actually get. She pretty much just painted my face and I sat there under a steamer that was only steaming one side of my face. Not even a light shoulder massage was offered. Also she was wiping my face with tissues. I could hear her pulling them from the box. Maybe they were special tissues, didn't feel like it though. I watched some videos before I came so I knew what to expect but it was nothing like what I had seen or any other facial I've had. Most places I've been to offer a free hand or foot massage or at the very least rub your shoulders. I will say she was very thorough with clearing my pores but the method used was PAINFUL. Read moreWorst Gift Card Experience EVER! I tried to give my wife a nice mother's day gift, but what an awful mistake it was choosing Hand & Stone. She booked an appointment at Orenco facility, and things went bad quickly. After making her appt, she received a call from someone there asking for a credit card. She let them know this was a gift card and it was already paid for. A bit later, she received another call from someone else asking for a credit card again. She again let them know the massage has already been paid for, and even provided the gift card # to assure Hand & Stone this was legit. She assumed this was now handled. The day before the massage, she got another call demanding a credit card #. My wife was working, but told them she would take care of that when she was there in person. Not 10 minutes later, she received ANOTHER call from Christine, who represented herself as a manager. Christine was even more hostile and said this appointment would be cancelled unless a credit card was supplied right then and there. So after the harassing and threatening phone calls, my wife cancelled the massage at Orenco Hand & Stone. How ironic that the "SPA" that was suppose to provide relaxation and peacefulness would call and harass a paying customer multiple times. Christine's aggressive approach also hurt the massage therapist who had a session booked, but now had a last minute cancellation due to her hostile treatment of his client. Christine's actions damaged her own company's employee as well as ensuring a returning customer will never step foot in that place again. My wife did book an appointment at the Cedar Hills location and had a decent massage, but we will NEVER go back to Hand & Stone for anything. She and I were both members of Hand & Stone for many years, but the service has way gone down and the prices have gone way up. Read moreWhere to start..? This is going to be summarized because this review is over the span of 1 year trying to schedule a simple massage. It starts with purchasing a $260 package for my girlfriend, to which life happened and she was unable to schedule immediately after receiving this gift. She attempts to schedule this massage and coordinate with this location based on her busy schedule. Her work schedule at the time only allowed for 1-2 days out of the week. They reached out to her to let her know that they were a few months out and they would reach out to her within a couple of weeks if anything opened up. She never heard back so she left a voicemail, but still no response. My girlfriend is not one to continue to reach out when she doesn’t hear back. I then decided to call them and figure out what the hold up was. I called them to inform them that my girlfriend had not received a call back. They apologized and said they would call her, still no return call. My girlfriend never heard back so I went into their location. I told them that I wanted a refund on the gift card, but the manager said they don’t offer refunds on gift cards. I asked for their corporate number to which I received it and contacted them. I spoke with someone that was able to only reach out to the location I was dealing with and figure out the scheduling issue. The location reached out to my girlfriend to schedule and determined a day. They canceled her appointment 5 days prior to her appointment. At this point I’m just exhausted and frustrated. So I left another message with corporate and they have never responded. I’m sure I’ll either get no response or I’ll get some story about how they tried or they want to schedule and make it right (I took notes during this journey).
