It's called chili's, but the weather was hot. The sticky hot you feel clinging to the back of your neck hours after you make your way indoors. Which we did after greeting and mingling on the sidewalk outside. It had been 20 years, more since my smile reflected back into the eyes of these faces reflected back in mine. I was the wild card. A presence none expected, but thankfully all welcomed. It was memories, apologies, and jokes about "back when." Inside we were greeted, seated, and served by a lovely face I've always known, but hadn't seen since my own face was still familiar. It was Kelly. Her beauty, charm, and sass still held tightly intact as though the years never passed for her, more like she passed through them, unscathed by the cold hand of time, who happens to have a pentancht for breaking us down. For Kelly, it held her up. Our group consisted of a motley crew of pieces of my past. Our past. Meeting all as children, and now meeting up with children, some of those children as adults. Who were we then? And who are we now? And can decades of distance and time effect who we all are to each other? It seems the answer is a resounding no. Read moreTonight was the second time in a week that we have ordered from Texas Roadhouse. (2 birthdays, both wanted this.) Each time the food has been excellent, hot, timely. Out of 5 people, the only complaint was that the BBQ chicken sandwich was a slightly sloppy in the way it was placed into the container. They are precise, as we customized some orders, and they are super generous with the dips, sauces, rolls, amazing cinnamon butter, etc. The money is well worth it, we each have lunch for tomorrow with leftovers, and we ate until we couldn't eat anymore! WORN OUT. WHEN THE CLEANING LADY KNOCKED, I OPENED THE DOOR, TOLD HER TO COME IN AND FOR TOWELS FOR , I MOTIONED FOR HER TO COME IN AGAIN,I TOLD HER I NEEDED TOWELS AND COFFEE.
