Makiki Nails — Attraction in Honolulu

I hate to give anyone such a bad review but unfortunately it was a really bad experience... I called to make an appointment for new gel nails. I tried to explain this on the phone but when I showed up she had booked me for mani and pedi. To remove the previous gel, she had me soak my fingers in a bowl of acetone for a few minutes, and then proceeded to rip it off, completely destroying my real nails. The tools were stored in a drawer in the desk with no form of sterilization. When she filed my nails she moved the file back and forth very roughly, and the result was uneven and further damaged. She only spoke to me to try to pressure me into paying for additional services, and the rest of the time she was yelling to her coworkers in Vietnamese.

I feel terrible giving this review because she was very nice and friendly. Sadly, my nails look lumpy and uneven, and are probably completely destroyed under the gel. Sterilization techniques need a lot of improvement. To end on a good note, I have to say that the prices are very fair, but I will not be recommending Makiki...

This will more than likely become my new regular spot to go to for a pedicure after my experience there yesterday. It’s a little bit hidden and I’d never been to this one but I walked past it, gave it a try and was so impressed by the quality of service from the nail technician! The technician I had (12/10), I wish I got her name, really treated my pedicure like an individualized experience and took her time to actually make my feet look and feel better. Sometimes I feel like technicians are a little rough or I end up getting extra ticklish but everything she did made me feel comfortable and at ease. I also saved a lot of money coming here vs some of the nail salons toward Ala Moana and Kaka’ako area. Overall better service, better quality, and better price! Love...

I had an awesome experience with Anne who did my nails! ❤ she was very nice and professional at her job, and thural in removing my 4 week old cal gel I had on my nails, she did an awesome job removing my gel by soaking my nails for a bit and using a drill bit with out hurting my natural nail, and for all the people who do gels and acrylic it can be painful but she was exceptional 💕. She cleaned up my nails so well I never had a service like that in years.
