BEWARE of the Somerset Apartment’s Management when you move out
By the way
if I had known about Google ratings prior to moving in I more than likely would not be interested in living in a place that has a 2.7 star rating out of 5 stars from its tenants.
I lived there for 2.6 years Never late with rent and never any complaints from neighbors
I paid a $300 deposit I paid a $300 pet fee I paid $20 a month for our pet chihuahua to live there.
In total I paid over $28,0000
When I moved out I asked the manager Marty to do a walk through to see what if anything was unacceptable or I needed to do and she said it was not necessary
I knew they were going to keep $100 for carpet cleaning as stated in the original lease and so I did not shampoo the carpet a final time. However we do own a carpet shampoo machine and in our time time used it quite a few times
I told her the shelf in the 2nd bedroom had broken and needed repair and I did not have any expectation of seeing the remaining $200.
What I did not expect was to receive a certified letter for $9.68 which I was required to pay for.
They charged $245 for paint and repair drywall which I knew and was fine with but in reality it should have not been that much
They charged $85 for standard two bedroom cleaning which was never stated in the original lease
They charged $25 for 1 day use of an ozone machine because I had a Chihuahua living in my apartment. What was the non refundable pet fee used for?
They charged $27.38 for pet treatment in the carpet. What was the non refundable pet fee used for?
They charged $3.00 for a light bulb
They charged $2.50 for a cracked wall cable plate
They charges $17 to replace the stove top drip pans
All this resulted in me owning them $196 more In which they sent the demand letter and threaten legal action if not made in 10 days.
When I spoke to Marty she agreed to take $100 which in my opinion was very suspect I declined and wanted the entire amount deducted and she refused.
They had Google take down my original complaint which was all true
I plan to get a sign to picket the complex in the...
Read moreMy fiance and I lived at these apartments for 2 years, and I would not recommend moving here! All of our neighbors were nice and we became close friends with a couple of them, but management is very rude. They're so nosey all the time. My brother came to visit me for a few days and after him being there for maybe 2 days, the office called me and said if he was staying any longer, I would have to put him on the lease. It's like you can't have any visitors. The maintenance guys were really nice though. After living there for about 4 months, our air unit completely went out, in the middle of summer. It took them 2 weeks to start fixing it. When their contracted company came in to fix our air unit, the guy tracked in all kinds of dirt, leaving our carpet looking filthy. I asked the office if they could clean our carpets since they weren't dirty due to us. They never got back with me. Then when we signed another lease for the second year, I asked again if they would clean our carpets, and of course they never got back with me about it. We finally decided to move out when our second lease was up, and we cleaned our apartment. (The maintenance guys actually told us that even if we clean, they're still gonna keep our deposit no matter what) This was 2 months ago and then I just received in the mail a letter from Fair Collections. Not once did they send me a letter or try contacting me saying that I owe them money. Instead they just sent it to a collection agency. They kept my $300 deposit and are now saying that I owe them $252.88 more. Do NOT move to these apartments unless you like no privacy, rude office managers, and being jipped...
Read moreI lived at Somerset for several years. As long as you’re pretty quiet and follow the rules, you won’t have any issues while you’re there. Maintenance is 10/10, I have zero complaints there. The problem is leaving. As many others have said, you will not get a deposit back. I knew this going in and having lived there for so long, I expected there would be lots of cleaning and painting to do. I only wanted to avoid paying extra and discussed that with management several times prior to leaving. I was upfront about what problems would need fixed and was told what it would cost to repair and I still ended up getting a bill. When I called to inquire about why the prices were so different from what I was told prior to moving out, I was told I should have gotten the prices they told me in writing. The management at Somerset lacks integrity and I cannot recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a home. Also, if say, your towel rod falls off the wall a couple of weeks before you move out, and you tell management it is broken, but they can wait to fix it until you leave since they’ll be painting anyway…don’t do that. Let them fix it before you move. They will charge you for the towel rod that was broken because it wasn’t fixed when you moved out. And when you ask about it, they’ll ask if it was broken when you moved in. As if you lived with a broken towel rod for 5 years. Just ridiculous...
