If I could give negative stars I would…Staff was very unprofessional to say the least-and known to publicly display their disdain for patrons of color. I came in this past Saturday for a return with the intention of wanting to change the square toe boots I purchased less than 24 hours prior (not worn and tags intact) to a more rounded style. Not even 2 minutes of me entering the store, there were at least 5 store associates standing amongst one another as I made my way to the counter. No greeting…not even a non-verbal acknowledgement. As I’m standing in line, I hear one of the female associates say…”oh, that looks like a return….NOT IT!”
Who says that within earshot of a customer? So I turned around initially and all of the associates were mortified that I heard what was said, but I just remained silent. I turned around a few seconds later and they all scattered around the store. The older lady that came to process my return was professional and apologetic but she did no wrong. I made it clear that despite the comment that was made, I still wanted to spend my money at Cavender’s. After the associate quickly processed my return, I made my way to the ladies section to shop-and still, no one came to ask if I needed help finding anything. A few minutes later, I left because I was disappointed, disheartened, and disgusted by the behavior of the retail associates at this location. I should have just returned my boots at the original location I purchased in Rosenberg, TX. The associates there were kind and patient during my first boot purchasing experience the day prior.
I’m not telling patrons where to spend their money, but just be mindful of certain things when you visit certain establishments. You would think that living in a culturally diverse place like Houston, TX you would be less likely to experience instances like passive racism and micro aggressions. But due to the current climate of our...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this store for rodeo shopping last week and we bought a lot of stuff. We washed the Wrangler jean I got and the color came out...We went to the store to return the item or exchange it. The guy named Kyle gave us hard time and he intentionally did not find my receipt from their system since I did not have my receipt. Then, he asked my full name. I provided him and he still did not find it. Then, I pulled up my bank account showed him the purchase details he said they do not save information of purchases...What a LIE! Then he asked me to go to bank and get a statement for my purchase. I told him I will go just print out what I am showing you from my phone screen, he said they need this statement from the bank because he will show it to corporate office..I said okay and left. As I was there, there was another customer next tome he was also returning some shoes and this guy Kyle did not help this customer either...Next day, I returned to the store and brought a statement from the bank. The lady at the cashier told me that "who told you you need the bring a receipt...This jean is damaged so we will swap it for you with the new one, go get what you like"...she did not even check the statement...THIS KYLE GUY ATE MY LUNCH HOUR GOING TO BANK..AND 30 MIN AT THEIR STORE BACK AND FORTH.. I really like the products but either horrible staff or he was...
Read moreI went in the early afternoon about a week ago while my kids were in school. I was followed the entire time throughout the store, including multiple verbal interruptions during my shopping trip. I was carded on a gift card, which made absolutely no sense to me, and I was startled when a man opened the door for me, the alarm went off and then another popped out of nowhere on the other side of the door and snatched my bag from me saying, "oh they must have forgotten a tag". They checked my bag and found the security device that made the alarm go off without a hitch, but the man hesitated giving me my bag and looked as if he wanted to check my receipt so badly. How could I steal anything if I was followed and policied my entire shopping trip, not to mention carded on a cash gift card with my name??? The most horrible experience I've ever had.
I had to go back later on in the evening the same day when I realized they never rung up the boots I had picked out. This time I had my kids because they were out of school by then.
This time around they had friendlier staff. I was helped, and not unnecessarily excessive either, I was not carded with my gift card, and it was a smooth transaction. There was however, a man, possibly the same one, who scared me yet again walking out. I seriously don't ever want to...
