Houston Police Museum — Attraction in Houston

It was reeeeeeally hard to squeeze out a third star. I think I gave it an extra one due to the respect I have for this policing agency. Plus I think someone is doing the museum a disservice by not maintaining it. For example, fallen down displays, curled up pictures, pictures completely upside down, cheap small area rugs as a base all take away from the message being shared by this museum with the great history of the Houston Police Department. Back up things for a minute to give you the full info on going here. Paid parking on the street is ampel during the weekdays. The museum is free. It is held in the Main Police Quarters, so you must go through a full TSA like scan of your personal items and person (metal detector and hand scanner). You then have to register your personal ID with the front desk. They scan your ID (Drivers' license in my case; whew! for being clean), Passport for my friend (and they also took a picture of him) and then you proceed to the other side of the lobby where the museum is. The display cases are top of the line. The large items such as police motorcycle and donated mini-car are cool. The history is amazing with lots of donated items from waaaay back when. Fascinating evolvement that comes with industrialization and modernization were detailed with facts, pictures, uniforms, hats, actual weapons and stories aplenty. There is a complete wall display dedicated to the first responders of 9/11. It was somber and touching. You can spend an hour or more, at least, reading each article or description or even more. The problems begin if you are in to the details. I am a bit OCD so I notice things that likely don't pop up on other people's radar. Written placards were laying about having fallen off of their perches. Often pictures or articles were matted but not framed, which allowed for the matting to age and curl. One three hole matted display looked like someone had cut the squares out with a hatchet or kids' scissors. Seriously people. Mannequins wearing uniforms were standing on scattered cheap area rugs. One newspaper article in the 9/11 display was curled right over. There was a related article on that side but the main one on display was lost in the inefficient clamps meant to hold it in place. Which was the case in several cases. It was a privilege to see this museum and I loved the whole idea and history, but I was sad that more care was or is not taken to present the history in a manner befitting it's honor and worth. Surely there must be a foundation that takes care of this museum?? Or $50 in the budget to fix things......(totally under-guessing I'm sure) We were on a time crunch or I would have taken some time to let someone know about the displays. abusan de su autoridad al obstruir la libertad de expresion a todo aquel que les hace una critica constructiva y algunos elementos entre ustedes apoyan a compañias corruptas como uber, lift, doordash, prologistix por mencionar algunas como pueden creerles a ellos nomas porque hablan con ustedes primero si un buen juez siempre va escuchar las 2 versiones de los hechos no solo una.,por eso digo que son unos ineptos y imcompentes que no saven investigar bien y se dejan manipular por la evidencia falsa y manipulada que les enseñan estas compañias que mencione son unos estafadores que no tienen sentimientos ni corazon al incriminar injustamente a todo aquel que denuncia sus malas practicas como yo, ellos solo quieren robar a los choferes que hacen todo el trabajo por ellos y exponiendose a peligros llevando gente desconocida en sus autos porque no savemos quien son realmente cualquiera puede hasta robar una tarjeta de credito/debito y ordenar un uber/lift sin saver quien son esas personas y que andan haciendo pero las verdaderas mafias son estas compañias que no les importa nada mas que robar, nomas vean todas las denuncias de robo y estafa que tienen ellos en sus paginas tanta gente no puede equivocarse ustedes los policias tienen que saver investigar bien para darse cuenta quienes son los corruptos entre ustedes que apoyan a estas compañias porque hasta andan manipulando las luces en la ciudad cuando voy cruzando cambian rapidamente a rojo para decir que cruzo asi y puedo ver a ellos con el phone al lado opuesto de la intercepcion grabando claramente ese uno de los muchos set ups que hacen para incriminar a los choferes que los denuncian tambien dicen que uno anda usando cosas ilegales cuando ellos mismos mandan a sus lambebotas que se hacen pasar como pasajeros todos apestosos a marigüana y borrachos para decir que el chofer anda mal y son ellos mismos que tienen madre para incriminar a gente inocente por eso hay personas en la carcel pagando por algo que nunca hicieron y que salen despues de 10,20 o incluso 30 años despues y tienen que pagarles millones porque fueron incriminados injustamente por compañias como las que menciono con ayuda de algunos oficiales corruptos que siempre hay en todos lados aunque lo nieguen asi es, los dueños de negocios estan llenos de avaricia no les importa nadie mas que ellos mismos, son capacez de cualquier cosa con tal de seguir violando los derechos de los trabajadores y quieren que se queden callados actuan como dictadores se creen que son intocables y pueden estar sobre la ley a esos criminales deben de hacerles una auditoria ya que casi siempre se esconden detras de una computadora y ni servicio al cliente adecuado tienen y ustedes los policias deben de patrullar los barrios mas peligrosos ya que solo los veo cerca de la estacion estan como los soldados que nomas quieren estar en base pero no quieren ir ala guerra solo quieren presumir que son soldados nomas para obtener los beneficios que les ofrece el gobierno igual estan los policias nomas quieren obtener los beneficios y abusar de su autoridad pero no quieren ir al campo de batalla por eso la violencia en esta ciudad esta incontrolable es la verdad aunque...

The Houston Police have devoted a section of their floor level downtown headquarters in honor of the many brave men and women who have served and protected their communities. It’s a great and worthwhile way to learn about not just the history of the Houston Police Department but they have some interesting stuff about the beginnings of Houston, as well.
