My husband and I stayed here for 1 night due to a work commitment. Upon checking in, we were told our service animal (dog) can’t be on property. After seeing their website said “pet friendly - service animals only”, I called to confirm our dog would be okay if we provided his ID card. I was told that would be no problem - great! We check in and the young man said our dog can’t stay, they brought a manager out who stated the same thing - after asking for the dogs ID card, we were told they needed more proof. I let him know this is all the documentation we brought due to a staff member telling us we’d have no issues. We went back and forth for a few minutes and the gentlemen graciously allowed us to check in and enjoy our visit Saturday night! Sunday morning my husband was leaving for his work commitment. The hotel requires you to pay to park in the below ground garage - no biggie, the car was safe. The entrance/exit was so steep we had to put the emergency parking break on to use our key card for entry to the garage. As my husband was leaving, he’s coming out of the garage on the hill and there is a car blocking the exit while parked in a no parking/tow zone. My husband drives a Kia Telluride and it was already a tight fit without another vehicle there. The car blocking the exit was hit by our car, we told hotel staff and informed them that this vehicle was in a no parking/tow zone. After explaining the situation, the young lady at the desk told me they have tried to contact the car owner several times, threatened to tow, and they still didn’t move the car. I asked if I need to call the tow truck myself and have the vehicle removed as it’s preventing other guests from safely using the parking we paid for. Extremely frustrating hearing a staff member sharing they should’ve towed the car but was hopeful the owner would move it. The vehicle sat there for hours and I even have video of other small cars struggling to get through the garage. Now we have to handle repairs and an insurance claim because the property didn’t do their job and have the car towed. Please see attached photo of the vehicle parked directly...
Read moreMy husband and I had a very nice stay at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Houston. I chose this hotel for cost and location (very affordable and in walking distance to most downtown, plus there's a tram stop right outside the hotel, though the tram didn't operate while we were there).
The front desk personnel were nice, except one gentleman with long braided hair lied to me a couple times (I'll get ri that later). The libby and rooms were nice. You're in a city so the rooms are super spacious, but you're not cramped either. It's a good size with a microwave and fridge. There isn't a smart tv, but we had an Amazon firestick we brought. The bathroom felt a bit tiny, but had ask the necessities. There was a hook in the bathroom that turned at onepoint and dropped a towel, but I was able to turn it back and it didn't happen again. Overall it was a very nice visit.
Check in was vey long for some reason. There were 3 people in front of me so I waited for awhile. When I checked in, it was quick and easy. What really bothered me was how the front desk gentlemen with the long braids reacted every time I asked about the free popcorn. Supposedly, guests are given free popcorn from 5pm-7pm... well, that's not true at this location. I love popcorn and would've loved to have that as an extra perk, but the gentleman at the front desk gave me multiple excuses that indicated he wouldn't make it. The first night we checked in, it was a little after 5pm and I saw the sign that said Popcorn available 5pm to 7pm." The front desk gentlemen says "Yeah, I gave to make that." But he didn't and when I came downstairs an hour later, there was still no popcorn, not even the smell of it. Oh well, I figured maybe tomorrow. Next day, stil no popcorn. The second day i came back to the hotel around 5:30pm and the same gentleman at the front desk saw me and shrugged and said they ran out. It was clear it just wasn't made. Maybe it's difficult to clean or make, but don't offer something you won't provide and proceed to lie about it. I did not appreciate that. Everything else was...
Read moreThe check-in receptionist that was working overnight Feb 22nd 2025, Heavy set dark colored guy extremely rude and unprofessional. This hotel seriously needs to reconsider having him at the front desk. Soon as I walked in I grabbed a business card that they have sitting out for guests to take at their own leisure, firstly the guy hounded me on why I needed the business card. Then when I found it odd he was asking this and told him I needed it for personal reasons he very snarky responded “ if you need it to speak to the manager I’ll give you the information” what? I hadn’t even checked in yet to need to speak to the manager furthermore if I needed assistance I could simply ask. Proceed to checking in and the entire time his attitude is disrespectful and defensive. We couldn’t checkin because we booked the reservation online 3rd party and needed a physical debit card to checkin. No problem however I sat in the lobby to charge my phone and exhaust all possibilities such as maybe finishing the reservation online ie the same receptionist then proceeds to hound me again on who I was on the phone with, and if I was on the phone with another hotel I needed to leave. What you don’t ask guest/future guest who they are on the phone with so odd, intrusive, and unprofessional. I was sitting in the lobby not even 5mins trying to figure out how to confirm this reservation I just left because the guy was seriously becoming annoying. To top all this off within the 10mins total I was there trying to checkin this guy got disrespectful with another guest that had walked in. Also...
