I ordered a season subscription. I received my tickets to find that one of the shows I selected, Griswold's Broadway Vacation, had been replaced by another show, without any prior notice of the change. I was not interested in seeing the new show so I contacted guest services and asked for a refund for that show. They responded and said that all sales were final. I replied back and said that I can understand that all sales are final on the shows that I selected and purchased. I should not have been randomly given a ticket to a show that I did not wish to see. They again snapped back and said all sales were final and they had a right to give me tickets to any show they felt I would enjoy. What?!?!? I purchased tickets to specific shows. What right do they have not to honor my purchase and to give me tickets to shows THEY feel I would enjoy??? I went back and forth for a few days and they continued to dismiss my concern and said they would not refund me. They finally came back and said that they would release the ticket to the show I did not choose and give me a $32 credit. The ticket I paid for was $91.50. Again, this did not make sense. This nonsense with them continued for several days. I called to try to speak to someone and explained what happened. She said that it did not sound right and I should receive a refund. She said someone would call me the next day. No one ever called. It wasn't until I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office for consumer fraud that they replied. Now they said that they would release my ticket and that I would have to pay an increased price for the other tickets since they were not a package subscription anymore. What?!?!??! This is getting even crazier. So now you are canceling the ticket, not refunding me AND charging me additional money...? It gets better... they then said I would lose my subscription "benefits" (Worthless benefits I wouldn't use anyway). I told them if they are canceling my subscription, then they needed to refund my $25 subscription fee they charged and the full $91.50, for the ticket to the show I did not select and were releasing. Their response was...guess...."all sales are final." So you are releasing my ticket I paid $91.50 for, canceling my subscription and not refunding me for any of it, but yet trying to charge me more money?!?!?! I eventually had to call my bank and open up a fraud dispute. The bank investigated and sided in my favor. I received a FULL refund for $299.50. After this was done, I got an email the next day from TUTS guest services saying that they have made an exception and they would refund me my money but that they have blocked my account from doing further business with them. Um...1. You did not do me a favor and make an exception. The BANK refunded me due to TUTS fraudulent activity. 2. The bank already blocked TUTS from continuing to charge my card, so I did not need TUTS to block my account, as it was already determined by ME that I would not be doing business with them based on their poor customer service and fraudulent activity. This was not my first poor experience with TUTS. Several years ago I had purchased a season subscription. My tickets did not arrive before my first show. I had ordered the tickets so many months in advance that the first show came and went and I had forgotten. I got an email asking how I enjoyed my show (as if they cared) and I contacted them and said that I missed the show because I never received my ticket. They told me it was MY fault (of course). I don't know why I even bothered trying to do business with them again. I hope these two bad experiences will be enough to deter you from doing business with these unprofessional crooks. There are sooooo many amazing local community theaters in Houston. Please support them rather than going to the overpriced shows at TUTS and risk having a horrible experience as I did. I would hate for anyone to have to deal with their poor customer service. It's a shame they...

Inappropriate, Fat-Shaming Security

I attended a play at TUTS yesterday. There wasn't any line, so my boyfriend and I were able to go up to security immediately. In addition to my bag search, my bf was subjected to a metal detector and small pat down. Unannounced, a lady started my pat down, which included her rubbing my stomach and asking "when I was due". I am obviously not an athlete, but I was still taken aback by the comment. I tried to play it off and told her I wasn't pregnant. She replied "Oh I'm sorry. You just look like I did when I was about to have my kid." After that size-shaming experience, I just wanted to find our seats. When asking the ushers, we got nondescript responses such as "upstairs" or "down that hall". We had to ask 4 separate ushers before we received help. At the time I thought of the atrocious service as something to just get through to watch our play. Looking back at it now, TUTS is an entertainment venue. This isn't the apathetic and handsy TSA that you have to suffer through to make a flight. If TUTS takes away the enjoyment from the experience, there is absolutely no reason to ever go. Size shaming patrons is unacceptable; terrible customer service in their industry is unacceptable. This is the first and last season I will ever hold a TUTS subscription.

Also, not that it should matter but if it does, I am 5'7", 143...

I recently attended a performance of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and it was nothing short of mesmerizing. From the opening number to the final curtain, the production was filled with powerful singing, stunning costumes, and unforgettable performances.

The cast truly brought their characters to life with exceptional vocal talent that filled the theater. Every song was delivered with passion, precision, and an emotional depth that drew the audience in, making the story come alive in a captivating way.

Equally impressive were the costumes, which were both intricate and visually striking. The designs perfectly matched each scene and character, adding an extra layer of immersion that transported us into the world of the show. Every costume seemed thoughtfully crafted, contributing to the storytelling while dazzling the eye.

The performers were at the top of their game, each delivering memorable moments that kept the audience engaged throughout. From the powerful solos to the dynamic group numbers, the cast’s energy never waned, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

I was truly moved by TUTS’s production of In the Heights. From start to finish, the performance was bursting with energy, heart, and soul. Every cast member brought their character to life with passion and authenticity, and the music, choreography, and storytelling came together in a way that left a lasting impression. The show beautifully captured themes of family, identity, and dreams, and I found myself deeply touched by the emotional highs and lows. The theater staff were kind and professional, and the venue was comfortable and well-organized. It’s a gift to have such high-quality musical theater here in Houston. Whether you’re a longtime musical fan or seeing your first show, this production is absolutely worth it. Seasonal subscription is highly recommended!!!

Great as always. We saw Ain't Too Proud. We went witb a group of 8 bought tickets just a few weeks in advance and were still able to get seats together. We had Cheap Seats in the Galery but the sound and view were still great. Staff was very cordial and helpful as always. I recommend at intermission check out the balcony on the main level. After Dark it is my favorite view of the city.
