I had a wonderful time the other night at the live production of the American Psycho musical. I love musicals and live theater, and this viewing felt intimate and truly unique
I had never been to this particular theater auditorium - the Zilkha Hall in the Hobby Center. It’s a gorgeous venue, and there is not a single bad seat in the house
There’s a bar in the lobby that has a fully stocked bar and satellite bar with signature and classic drinks. There’s a neat facade of a video store with aisles, cardboard cutouts, and candies. It can get a little congested with people before the show and during intermission, but it’s fun
The production was a lot of fun. The troupe was incredibly talented. The set, production design, and costumes were clever and thoughtful. The concept of the show was intriguing. I am a fan of the film American Psycho, and I think this particular rendition was truly creative and unique. While some of the numbers felt a little like “fillers,” the music, vocals, and theatrics worked incredibly well. All the characters were a joy to watch, and the lead killed… literally
Some tips: The program is definitely worth a read. The ads are so appropriate in terms of luxury items with a Patrick Bateman flair. Also, the Halberstram was a very unique cocktail marrying my love for both whiskey and red wine. Worth a taste
There’s valet for parking ($25), or a public garage, but we opted to Uber so we would explore downtown after the...
Read moreWe had the best date night in a long time! "Will Hearn's Grand Ol' Christmas Show" featuring Blue Water Highway is not to be missed. Remarkable how each individual was so talented. We didn't expect it to be so comical. Great wholesome family fun but we being in the over 50 crowd surely enjoyed it more. Those folks can sing & that band was swingin' jack! Only way it could of been better is if we could of had a dance floor. I about jumped out of my seat wanting to jitter bug with my husband when they played my favorite, "Run, run Rudolph". "Oh Holy Night" brought me to tears. Not only did the gentleman do an amazing job performing it but the passion in his voice and if you understand the true meaning if the song...it was priceless to see it performed so elegantly. We look forward to seeing other venues by these artists and hope to make this a Christmas Tradition. ~ Mr. & Mrs. Fred Zingerman (From Pasadena-that...
Read moreIt's one of the best venues I have seen in a while. It's modern tucked away inside the Hobby Center.
Seats are comfortable and spaced to give you the elbow room.
The hall shares restrooms with the other spaces in the center and is way down in the basement area. Not enough .
Operations does a great job, but marketing is missing in action. Arrogant young people with no clue about the 5 Ps of marketing.
The volunteer ushers are good
I watched the 'Next to Normal' wow wow wow times 5. They show got a spontaneous standing ovation, and the cast plus support deserved it.
If they can just figure out how to fix marketing, the Center would become Broadway class. What's wrong? Geez, get people who can...
