First I want to say I’m impressed with the staff of this place for handling the massive crowd on Saturday of spring break 2023. There were people everywhere and the restaurant was extremely busy. I’d made a reservation the night before and we showed up an hour late due to scheduling conflicts. The host honored our reservation anyway. Our waiter was sharp, attentive, professional and friendly. He got all orders correct and tended to our table very well. I was a little disappointed by some of the food which was surprising because I understand Landry’s to be exceptionally good. I’d ordered the steak and lobster. The steak was requested well done and arrived medium to medium rare. The taste was a little bland and could have used some more seasoning. The lobster was a very small, dry/not juicy, chewy/not soft, bland, seemingly old/definitely not fresh piece which came situated (not connected) to the lobster shell. I don’t think the two originally came together. The lobster was only a few bites worth and just not very good as far as taste (my nephew had a taste and said it tasted like ground beef :-/). It probably tasted better when it was fresh. The mash potatoes also seemed old/not fresh as well as the green beans. I’ve worked in the food industry in the front of house and kitchen. I understand most restaurants cannot promise a fresh plate every time. But there was just too much “reheated” portions on my plate for the price tags on the menu. If one is going to charge $42 for lobster and steak, it would be nice to be pleased rather than displeased with the freshness. There’s just no excuse. My sister ordered the fried seafood platter and it only came with 2 oysters, which was also disappointing. The two oysters were so good I asked the waiter to bring me a half dozen more as the platter did not provide enough. The fries, fish and chips, shrimp salad, cheeseburger and drinks all got rave reviews. My niece had a stroller for her baby and the hostess asked if we would like them to hold it for us (and what were we supposed to do with the 6 month old baby who could barely sit up?). We told them we would keep the stroller and from that point had a very difficult time moving it through the crowded table areas for which there was not much room. These were my only complaints. Other than this, my family and I absolutely loved the restaurant ambiance. It was bubbly and fun and had amazing views from a patio overlooking the park. It also has a nice bar and clean restrooms. We were dighted to be there and especially appreciated the service and all the lovely aquariums, we will definitely return. I can see myself visiting this restaurant on my own just to get a feel of the downtown dining experience. It will be one of my favs. I just won’t be ordering the lobster until I can be assured I will receive a...
Read moreImagine if the circus came with a huge fish tank to the Walmart off Kirkwood. That's what it's like here.
The entrance is partially covered in a plastic tarp and a dozen running vehicles sit running outside the front door. When it's 110 degrees, the exhaust is a bit much.
After waiting for a mob of 18 year old thugs to make space in the doorway, we waited for 30 minutes in a funk smelling cave with unruly children climbing the walls, waiting for a table. Only later to find out that a nice quiet empty bar sat upstairs. Staff never mentioned it.
Staff is all under 20 and understandably oblivious to the obnoxious crowd bursting at the seams. Aside from my waiter and the person feverishly trying to stop all the kids from hammering on the fish tank, most of the staff hated being there and did all they could to do as little as possible.
Every table had at least 2 to 6 kids, most of which screamed or ran about while their parents dazed mindlessly into their phone. Most here appear as if they go out to a restaurant less than once a year and their manors certainly support that.
There was even a homeless lady at a table with a dozen bags and a water. When she left, I noted the mess of trash she left, but as I looked at other tables, most left more trash then her, especially on the floor.
Water dripped from the black mold covered ac vent directly on my table while my overworked waiter took my order for two appetizers and a drink. I had to move my own table to stop it from getting wet and I realized the floor was soaked and that water had been dripping a long while.
My total was 95 dollars with a tip. That's before 30 for parking. It took over 10 minutes to get out of the building due to the lack of space and Instagram minded drones taking selfies with a garr or stingray.
My food was large portions and mostly good, but any experienced foody would note the lack of seasoning, unfresh veggies and obviously frozen/cooked premade plates. I'm sure the same teenage staff man's the kitchen.
If you enjoy a nice dining experience and haven't been here, this is not the place to consider. All those who rated this place well, are used to Long John Silver and their review holds little weight.
The crowd here is the worst part. The food is acceptable, but not worth the rates charged, and staff belongs at a Wendy's. This place is a stain on the underwear...
Read moreMy first time visiting the Aquarium was in high school, over a decade ago. I didn't remember the food quality but only the cool view of the fish tank. My husband has never been and because he's from Florida he absolutely love fish and anything sea related. So we went there yesterday to celebrate our 11 year anniversary. Boy were we disappointed.
