Sold all their accessible seating during the general sale, making it difficult for people who needed those seats to get them later if needed. Rude about me not wanting to be split up from my companions for the show if possible. Emailed me 9 hours before the show saying they had to change my seat due to obstructed view, after telling me the view wasn’t obstructed. ((These things can change but I did specifically ask if this could be a problem and was ensured it wouldn’t be)) Informed them that I wasn’t interested in their “premium vip” upgrade because it took me away from the stage where I need to see for facial expressions and lip reading (I’m late deafened) but told me I didn’t have any choice anymore. Staff was rude from the get-go, from people managing the lines, to security working the entrance, the person running the show, and the general manager. ((One lady did apologize I’ll give her that)) Told the interpreting agency that I was okay with being moved to the vip, when I was not. Trying to problem solve and the general manager showed no empathy and was not listening to anything we had to say. General manager was viewing myself and my friends in a very negative light. Yes, we were angry, but we were trying to make sure that I could enjoy the show. Of course we were angry after months of emailing and hours of trying to sort this out where nobody would listen and tried to force me to do things that wouldn’t work for my needs as a deaf individual. I am deaf, you are not. I know what I need, you don’t. Spent the concert alone because it was the only way I could get appropriate accommodations. My friends were just thankful I could enjoy the show completely, but it was bumming to not be able to be with at least one of them.
At one point my friend had mentioned that this is the only venue we have had issues with. The general manager snapped back with “that’s not true, I’ve contacted other venues you’ve been to on this tour” in a negative tone. It is common for there to be some day-of fixes with my disability, because most people are simply not educated enough on deafness. While there were some minor changes at other venues, such as relocation and lighting, all venue staff was incredibly kind, listened to what I had to say, and helpful throughout the experience. There was no trying to force me to do something that doesn’t work for me, there was no arguing, there was no staff rolling their eyes at me. This comment she made hurt so much. From the beginning of this emailing process with this venue, it was hard. I admit, I should have practiced more patience, but with the several weeks of emails and then the attempt by the venue to shove me into the back 9 hours before the show, I wasn’t happy.
Additionally, when I received the email about being moved to their VIP area due to unexpected view obstruction in our original seats, I had replied to let them know that I would like to view both seating options after the soundcheck experience so that I could decide what would work best for me. They replied with “At this point this will be the location”, telling me essentially that I didn’t have a choice. They claimed that due time constraints there was no other option, being a frequent concert goer, I knew this wasn’t true.
There was no empathy. There was no care. There was no concern that I would be able to enjoy the show based on my needs. None. They decided that I and my friends were problem causers and stopped there.
Additionally, I had pulled up portions of the ADA and NDA in order to attempt at problem solving with the staff and everything was essentially brushed aside. I was offering solutions and asking them to see if we could figure something out. I was met with solid “no” replies and frustration until one of the interpreters gave her point of view. All it took was someone outside of myself and my friends to say exactly what we had been trying to say for hours- to finally...
Read moreThe experience of the “$uicideboy$” concert started before the tickets were bought for the event that occurred at Revention Music Center, two of my friends sitting at the lobby of a Whataburger while listening to the music and being hyped with a positive energy, notice that the tickets for their tour just went on sale, we all pitched the idea to buy tickets and so we did, months of waiting for the ticket and album to appear in the mail just to confirm the realism of what we were about be involved in. The day of the concert we arrived at the Revention Music Center around 6PM, an hour earlier than the intended time on the ticket, a long line wrapping around the buildings in the small strip mall area of the intended building, the line started to move around 7:30 as it started moving, it stopped abruptly for about another 30 minutes or so, we were sitting and standing between times and the line started moving for a few minutes then stopped and so on, until we get near the entrance, there were multiple security guards along with police and metal detectors which made us feel safe, after passing through the security we were immediately in front of a bar and an entrance to the stage area, we went to the standing area, approximate current time was 8:20 and as we joined the crowd of people standing and staring at the stage, it started to get packed and the AC was not adequate enough to prevent this amount of heat being produced by a crowd so it was getting hot. A lot of people around us pulled out cigarettes and other sort of flammable inhalants that they managed to sneak past security, only one time we saw someone get caught with cigarette by the staff that worked there, and they were let off with a warning. After an hour and 30 minutes of standing in hot and sometimes cold are being crushed in a crowd the concert began to start, hot air, smoke and all sorts of sweat were being exchanged through the crowd, the music and the booming of the bass from the speakers were phenomenal as they sounded as if I were wearing earbuds, we stuck with our friends and if anybody passed out or fell, they were helped up and were brought to a clearing out of the crowd. My overall experience of this concert was something I’d do again, and the venue was good but lacking in security enforcing rules and time management, but nonetheless the band was partially late but made up for it during the performance that didn’t end until 11:30 PM, an experience that I was glad to have...

Just saw the Australian Pink Floyd Show here last night, and the venue experience was astonishing! I had never been to this place before, and had also never sprung for box seating and the Official Platinum upgrade. I will never return to floor seats. I am an older female person with a cane, and I was travelling solo. On arrival I (typically for me) got lost, ended up in the wrong place, and hesitantly approached the staff, expecting curt instructions on where I was supposed to be, delivered in the "dealing with an annoyance" tone to which I had been accustomed at other concerts/events. What I got was a friendly greeting, a request to see my ticket, and then a handoff to A PERSONAL ESCORT to the lounge! Along the way, Diamond (Hi Diamond!) showed me where everything was, checked for me on when the merch would be available, apologized that the downstairs bathrooms weren't working, made sure I understood where/when to go next, and even took a second in the elevator to bond over my t-shirt (Steven Universe for the win!). All of my staff interactions were on that same level of excellence. When I bumped into Diamond again later, she remembered my name! I am so sorry that only Diamond's name stuck with me, because I would love to acknowledge all of them. My seat was comfy, and when the gentleman seated next to me arrived, our server introduced us to each other, which was so comforting as it skipped the whole weird sitting by a stranger thing. (If you, like me, have never had table service at a concert, it is AWESOME!) Every single time a staff member had to pass in front of me they said "Excuse me". They checked in on me often to see if I was ok, but not in an intrusive way (it felt like they actually cared if I was having a good time!).
Special shout-out to the young dude in the hat with the adorable ducks on their shoulder: thanks for the pin!
The only faint downer note in the whole experience (and it is one I am totally used to) is that the food options (Actual food! Seat Upgrade awesomeness!) were full of gluten. Even the french fries turned out to be coated. Please note that the fact that said options all looked way yummy, and everybody around me scarfed them down happily.
I had an amazing time, the band was SO GOOD, and I am actively looking for reasons to go back.
(BTW, Diamond, the QR code on the review card you gave me didn't work. Hope this will...
