I am deeply disappointed by the distressing incident my son and his friends experienced at the Irvine Spectrum store on February 17, 2024, between 5:30-7:30 PM. They visited irvine Spectrum to celebrate my son's 14th birthday and to purchase his first cologne at Sephora-this was his first outing alone with his friends. Unfortunately, the visit at Sephora turned unpleasant due to an accusation of theft by an individual, possibly a salesperson or vendor at the store- no reasonable suspicion except that she said she felt that one of the boys was looking at the camera.
This lady, grabbed one of the boys, a minor, and forced them to empty their pockets and backpacks publicly. This humiliating experience was witnessed by their female friends from school who were also there, making it more embarrassing . After she didn't find anything on them, Instead of apologizing, the lady rudely walked away stating that they still look suspicious.
After hearing about this me, and the other parents were absolutely livid! I spoke to the manager, McKayla, on February 18, 2024, at around 6:00 PM. While she was professional and sympathetic, she failed to follow through on her promise on calling me back in the next couple of days after she investigated the incident.
As a long-time Sephora customer with positive experiences, specially at the Laguna Niguel store, this incident has shocked and upset me. And want management to address the unjustified actions and unwanted touching by an adult on a minor. I trust that you will investigate and take measures to prevent such incidents in the future. I hope my children can shop at your store without fear of harassment or discrimination based on their age...
Read moreWhile I wholeheartedly understand and will gladly comply with covid regulations, here are some of the issues I saw in the store.
I was told if I had questions on samples, to ask an employee for assistance. I was expecting them to use an eye sponge tip, dip it in the tester, and hand it to the customers to try on their arm. A feasible expectation that would not cross the covid guidelines. Unfortunately for me, I had the Sephora employee try on the samples on her arm. I am a woman of color and the employee was of pale complexion. So, you can see how this did not help. If you don’t want people using your testers. I understand. However, having your employees, who have not washed their hands test the products on their skins, seems contradicting.
Staff attitude.
The employees at Sephora were quite rude and off putting. Some would ignore you while others would watch you like a dog. I also noticed they kept an eye specifically on people of color.
In the end, I bough the products I needed because I already drove to this mall. I would have gladly stayed bought more products had the service been better and had they provided a better system for testing products, such as the one I...
Read moreHalf-empty display cases, expired goods, in particular foundation from the company ilia. a thick layer of dust on the windows of rose inc. testers stink of old. When I took the Charlotte Tilbury facial contour tester this brown liquid leaked all over my palm because the tester was broken. I understand that customers are different and break things, but order and cleanliness are important. 02.23.24 at about 11 am, the girl (plus size) employee who is standing at the entrance behaved very vulgarly, screamed loudly, laughed throughout the store and clapped her hands when communicating with another employee, it felt like you were in a circus. When I was calmly reading the ingredients of the cream, one of the employees literally pounced on me with excessive attention, began to say something a lot, I was honestly scared. The experience of communicating with another girl, if I remembered the name correctly, then Jane was very pleasant. P.S. I have nothing against plus size, I myself am plus size. People came to enjoy shopping, study the product, enjoy the time spent making their next purchase for their loved one, there is no need to yell and spoil the impression and attract attention...
