Varsity Driving Academy & Varsity Driving School — Attraction in Irvine

I recently had the unfortunate experience of taking driving lessons with Chris, and I am compelled to share my dissatisfaction with his services. My first driving lesson with him was only mediocre, and my third driving lesson with him was particularly frustrating due to his disrespectful and condescending attitude. Chris asked if I had practiced my 50 hours on the road and I assured him that I did, but was unaware of the fact I had to log it. Chris then said I was exaggerating about my driving hours and gave me a lot of unnecessary sass. Questioning my driving experience in a patronizing manner, I felt extremely disrespected and was defending myself as I feel that as a driving instructor, your job is to help me learn and not be condescending to someone who is just trying to learn how to drive. He then brought up how I had a bad attitude which I find especially rude and unprofessional and I felt very distracted and unsafe on the road with someone who makes rude remarks towards me. As the lesson came to an end I brought up how unprofessional and unneeded comments about my attitude was, and Chris rudely interrupted what I was saying as he felt that bringing up my supposedly bad attitude was necessary as he felt he needed to be detailed and as I tried to tell him I understand the need to be thorough with his lessons, but it was very unprofessional and rude still, he interrupted me again and raised his voice saying he would contact my parents. I honestly feel so disrespected by this driving instructor and I have no idea how Varsity Driving Academy would let someone like this represent them. If anyone uses behind the wheel training from Varsity, make sure to not choose Chris as your driving instructor, but to choose an instructor like Hong who I had the pleasure of working with during my second driving lesson. He provided a positive and supportive learning experience, in stark contrast to Chris.I would strongly advise others to seek an instructor who, like Hong, values their students and creates a respectful teaching...

My driving instructor was Hong Tran, and I truly can say the entire lesson was a fantastic experience. From the beginning, Hong was calm, professional, and encouraging. He explained everything clearly and slowly, double checking that I understood each step before moving on to the next. His encouragement was always constructive, and he found just the right balance between encouraging me and keeping me challenged. Throughout the lesson, Hong kept a close eye on my driving style, offering helpful corrections but never in a manner that was overwhelming. Whether he was helping me perfect turns, reminding me to check blind spots, or giving tips real time in traffic stops, he was engaging and comforting. I especially appreciated how he broke down parallel parking in simple, easy to follow steps, and it helped boost my confidence significantly. The most impressive, however, was Hong's genuine care for my own improvement. He never rushed and offered a calm setting that made it much less intimidating to learn how to drive. I would be happy to have Hong as a teacher again, and I would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend. Any student learning to drive would be lucky to have such an excellent, friendly, and helpful teacher...
