I have been calling the Canton planet fitness for the past 2 months now arranging to get my account cancelled due to the fact that I am moving. Nothing against planet fitness. I think they have a great thing going and its very affordable. If it wasn't for the fact that I am moving and have a free fitness center at the place I'm going to I would find another planet fitness to go to. Anyways, I have called and talked to this business several times making sure I would be able to cancel in time so that May 14th would be my last payment. Every single person I talked to there told me I had to go into the business and sign something. I couldn't just cancel over the phone (which is extremely inconvenient due to the fact that I am moving). I did end up going to the gym to sign the paper on the 30th. There the assistant manager informed me that I had ANOTHER fee coming out of my account before I could cancel my membership and I needed to come in on the 25th so that that fee would not be coming out of my bank account. Even though I had been calling them for the past 2 months telling them I had to cancel asap. So after I left there and cancelled my membership, I called and told them that I wanted to speak to a manager and gave them my phone number and asked her to call me. She never called me. So today June 3rd, I called there and asked to speak to her and she instantly had the most unprofessional attitude while SCREAMING at me on the phone. Calling me a liar and telling me that it doesn't matter what her employees tell me and the money already came out of my account so I am out of luck basically. I have never spoken to such a rude unprofessional manager IN MY LIFE. This women wouldn't even let me speak. She was screaming over top of me and not even letting me explain to her what was going on. I've never had a manager of a business treat me this way. She obviously doesn't care about the business and what people think about her or planet fitness. I'm just writing this so that hopefully the owner of this privately owned business will hear about this and do something about it. I am not nor have I ever been a liar. I would have came in before the 25th if that were the case to avoid the "one time membership fee". Her name is Danelle or Danielle. She refused to give me her last name or a number I could call to report the issue. I just want the owner to know what kind of manager he has down there running that place because she is extremely unprofessional and not good with customer service...
Read morei don't know what some people expect for $10 a month, but yeah--you're not getting a pool and sauna, duh. and i don't know why someone would expect that a gym wouldn't take their banking info and charge them monthly. kinda how it works everywhere.
i love PF. i have gotten there at 5:30 when there are no parking spots left (but it's in a plaza so right around the corner are tons more, and let's face it--you're here to work out, so a few extra steps won't kill you) -- and still had treadmills to choose from. they have a great variety of weight machines and cardio stuff. plus a 30 minute circuit area that is fun and effective. i've had no problems with "lower class" people or theft. the locker rooms and gym are always very clean. you can hang your keys on a key hanger right by the front desk staff if you prefer over putting them in the locker room.
i have the $20 membership so i can also get unlimited tanning and use of the massage beds which are kind of a nice perk. i can also take a friend for free which is great.
for the negatives i will say that the pricing is slightly deceptive. yes it's 10 or 20 a month, but there IS an additional $60 annual fee, so it's really 15 or 25 a month if you want to look at it that way.
when i first went in i was kind of nervous, not knowing the ropes in a new place, and no one really answered my questions very well or offered to show me around. i felt weird and didn't go back for 3 months. but once i did, there was a nicer person there who helped me out, and i was comfortable right away.
they offer free personal training but there's only one PT on staff so it can be hard to get time with him. but when you do, he's very nice and makes you feel comfortable.
i think it's bizarre that they give away free pizza, bagels and candy, but i get it. it's part of the whole "we don't judge you" schtick. i mean for $10 a month, you could get your money's worth just by showing up on pizza night and eating a lot.
overall, for the money, i think you really get more than you pay for at PF. i'm really glad i went with them over hall of fame fitness because i don't need bells and whistles, just machines and cardio with a wide range of hours. PF is...
Read moreI joined this gym about a month ago and wanted to wait before rating it. I could not be happier with this gym. I don't know what people expect for $10/month. Obviously you won't be getting a pool or sauna or any of the high end amenities that more expensive gyms have. But if you're just looking to get in a good workout I don't know what more you need.
Planet Fitness has everything to fit your workout needs. There are more than enough treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, machines and free weights. There are classes offered as well. I haven't been to one to rate them. When they talk about the "Judgement Free Zone" it's completely true. While you have your typical "gym rats" I feel like most of the people there are your average, everyday person just looking to workout without feeling bad about it. It's such a great option for people who can't afford $50+ a month for a typical gym.
I have the black card with is $20/month. Completely worth the extra cost! It allows me to go tanning, get the hydro massage, discounted beverages and I can use other clubs, which is great since travel often. I've been to three other clubs since I've joined. Each club is so different but all offer the same great amenities.
Bottom line is, if you're a serious gym person who needs fancy equipment and a spa and sauna, you probably won't like this gym. But if you're looking to get in a good workout with quality equipment and not lose half your months salary trying to get healthy then I HIGHLY...
