Plato's Closet Jackson, MI — Attraction in Jackson

I am very disappointed and frustrated with my past visit to Plato’s Closet in Jackson. Staff was nice for the most part. I attempted to sell today. One lady got a little snippy when I asked if when they are sorting my items if they could make note of total $ they are taking for each bag (one large tote and one small tote), still one transaction. I guess that is too much to ask of their system even though I was still doing one transaction. Just wanted them to simply jot down 2 different numbers and then add them for the system (come to find out it didn’t matter in the end anyways). So I said never mind, don’t worry about it. I brought in all name brands such as American Eagle, Carhartt, Aeropostal. Most items in basically new condition. Lots of jeans that are definitely in style. Dropped items off at 1:15 pm. They said give them about an hour. 2:15pm comes around and I check the progress on the link I was sent. Said estimate pick up 2:45pm, what ever. It’s 3:15pm and no text about it being completed. At this point I have wasted an extra hour twiddling my thumbs so I went back to check on my order. It was done and didn’t seem like they just finished it. I’m at the register and the girl gives me the run down…. They took nothing. NOTHING. Also, all my items were just thrown back into the tote, a mess. I brought them in neatly folded. Come home to re fold the mess and find they didn’t even look at 4 pair of jeans. I know this because they were folded and stacked perfectly exactly where I put them in the bag. I will not be returning for a while, possibly ever. Which I know is no big deal to the company because one persons business isn’t worth much. Such a joke Plato’s Closet has become. Went here for the ease of selling but has turned into a pain...

UPDATED ON 9/20/2023 Kinda pricey for second hand. They have a decoy which is a guy walking around acting like he's shopping, he kinda made me uncomfortable and he was very noticeable. I got some concert like tees the shoes were outrageously priced especially for the cost of what they give the person who sold them, my sister in law is very up to date dresser and the things they refused was exactly that was on the racks, it's like who ever is running the show that night is if they felt like keeping it or not. Teens run the show. This is another review. On 9/20/2023 the last little bit I've been really working on getting some beautiful clothes for Plato's closet and working very hard at keeping everything just right and cuz I know they expect perfect condition of I went in today and they took absolutely nothing these are jackets, denim vest, and also some name brand purses they gave me about every excuse. I know that my items to sell them were very quality items name-brand ambercrombie Fitch, Nike, champs. Also I had other name-brand things and I had a hat with tags still on them from Victoria secret. I have lost all respect for Plato's closet I feel like some young kids pawed through my stuff and got overwhelmed. It wasn't even as long as they said it was going to be, so I don't feel like they even went through my things. Disenchanted with Plato's closet and I think I'm done if I could give them no...

If I could give it ZERO stars, I would! I took in several boxes of sorted and neatly folded clothes for sale. Tre was great and helped me carry everything in. Mercedes and the "20-something girls" smiled and told me it would be 30 minutes to browse my clothing so I could shop around.

I was alerted to come back up to the desk and saw my boxes on the floor with every article of clothing rumpled in heaps! Mercedes just smiled and said "ok, we've chosen 3 items out of everything...here's your 11 dollars..."

OK...That is fine... they couldn't use my stuff. I get it. That isn't the problem. I looked at her and said, "what happened to all my neatly folded clothes?" She said, "well, they are still "mostly folded".

Are you kidding me!??? It looked like a washing machine exploded back into my boxes! Mercedes then said, "well, I can help you fold them better". I said, OK. Tre helped carry the boxes of clothing back to my car and I thought she was going to follow me out to help. NOPE. It was here that I spent another 30 minutes re-folding EVERYTHING directly in FRONT of the store. Did Mercedes ever come out to help me "re-fold:. Absolutely not.
