I recently relocated to Florida. I previously went to the same hair colorist/stylist for 20 years. I dreaded the thought of trying to find a new person here and how many appointments I would have to make at different salons before I found the right person. I looked on IG for different salons looking for someone whose color I liked. Every time I would look for the ones I liked best and see who had done the color, I soon realized Heather Lucas was the one. I called to make my appointment and scheduled the soonest I could, which was 6 weeks away. I asked if I could be added to her cancellation list and the very helpful and friendly receptionist said no problem. I was very surprised to get a call 3 days later that Heather had a cancellation. A few days before my appointment I got a phone call from Heather introducing herself and asking if I had any questions before my appointment. I couldn’t believe she would take the time to do this. It further confirmed that I had found a great stylist. Now the hair! I showed up for my appointment. Heather greeted me with her happy and sweet personality. She took the time to look at my hair in depth and talk about what I wanted. She had asked me to bring photos of my hair when I liked it most so we went over photos also. Many highlights later, a gloss, a relaxing shampoo and conditioner and then to the haircut (just a trim this time) and style. Heather asked how I’d like my hair styled. She applied some products, blowdried and styled my hair to perfection. I found my hair person! I couldn’t be happier. My hair was exactly what I wanted. Not only that- when you meet Heather you will feel like you’re reuniting with a dear friend. She’s so welcoming, kind and sweet. Our conversation was so easy. I left loving my hair and looking forward to my next visit and trying out some other suggestions Heather thought we could try. She truly loves her job and it shows. I truly cannot express how grateful I am that I found Natalie at West Coast Hair Design!! Before my visit to West Coast, I had a badly botched balayage and was so unhappy with my hair. Not only was the balayage itself done poorly but the overall color and tone of my hair was not even close to what I wanted. I wanted a cool ash blonde balayage, and was left with a brassy orange color to my hair, with huge chunks that were so badly blended. I booked a color correcting consultation with Natalie and was instantly put at ease. Right off the bat she was so kind and reassuring and answered my every question and concern. I showed Natalie the same pictures that I had shown the previous stylist, and Natalie gave me multiple options on how we could achieve the results I wanted. I booked an appointment with her for a gloss, root smudge and tip out hi-lights to fix my hair and I am absolutely amazed by the results!! The results are so far beyond my expectations I was speechless when I saw the final result! I walked out of West Coast more confident and happy than I could have imagined, after having so many bad experiences with other salons. I can’t express how happy I am with my hair, it’s the exact color and look I wanted! I have no idea how, but in a single session Natalie was able to completely correct the tone and blend out my hair beautifully! I feel so confident with my hair and so happy I have found a talented stylist that truly listens to their clients! I’ve been attending west coast designs since I moved to Jacksonville a few years ago. I love Jacksonville, but was concerned about finding a stylist after having been spoiled in more metropolitan cities the past few years - London, Tokyo, San Fran.

All this is to say, Heather is the most experienced colorist I’ve had the privilege to book in my entire hair journey. Her level of professionalism, dedication to continuing education (she’s often taking her time off to attend conferences on the latest techniques), and interest in the chemistry behind the various dye processes she uses to achieve any number of looks ensures significant versatility in her domain, meaning she doesn’t just produce 1 style for all, but works with the client to understand their desired look, and has an extensive repertoire of procedures to choose from to achieve said request. Lastly, she’s careful to guide the client towards treatments and procedures that ensure health of hair.
