U-Star karaoke — Attraction in Jefferson Township

So disrespectful and racist! We called in advance TWICE, asking if we need a reservation. He said no, you guys can come in. We said okay, we plan on arriving at 11, will we get a private room? He said, yes, just come in and have fun. We get there at 11 after a 40 minute drive, and all of a sudden, all of the rooms are taken. Now, our group is composed of all young women of color; we just wanted a fun night out as many bars are 21+ and though we are all adults, we are not 21 yet. Six girls. With three Indians, 2 southeast Asians and a hijabi. We are not pale, but we were extremely polite and proper. He said we will have to wait an HOUR before a room is open. We ask, can we get a bigger room if it’s open? He said no, only after an hour will a room be open. Meanwhile, while all of this is happening, he is running around, avoiding us and not even giving us the time of day. Now, I would understand if there was a wait, but he REFUSED to let us reserve a room, and he didn’t let us know at all. This is extremely unprofessional and I have no doubt if our appearance were more towards his expectations or if we were men, he wouldn’t have treated us so poorly. Wasted our...

*UPDATE 04/27: I have tested positive for Covid 19 as a result of this night. *End Update. This seemed like a good idea to book amid Covid. You can limit your group and seemingly control your environment in a private karaoke room. Unfortunately, this was not the case! The same night we booked a private room they booked a maskless, over capacity (spilling out onto the street), fraternity and sorority mixer that took up both bathrooms, the bar, the entire common area and they would barge into our room (making it not private). This was our first time out in a long time and it was really disappointing to see that U STAR had little concern about the safety of their patrons. We had to fight our way out through wall to wall maskless bodies. U STAR - In the future please try not to put your patrons at such high risk. ZERO social distancing in the public space. I would pay a little extra at someplace nicer next time. If you think this is a good place to stay distanced.... you should at a minimum check that they didn't book you...

HIGHLY recommend U-Star for a karaoke party! We booked a large room in advance for about 20 people. The owner was an absolute pleasure to communicate with throughout the whole party planning process, and was very responsive. The song system they use is very sleek and is what sold us on choosing this place for our party. Their catalogue of songs is impressive and up-to-date, and we were able to easily switch back and forth between their system and YouTube for any songs we couldn't find in the catalogue.

The room was clean and soundproofed well, and we were encouraged to tape up decorations for our party. It's BYOF, so we had our own catering brought in. Drinks from the bar have a good variety and prices are decent. The parking lot in front fills up quickly, but our guests had no trouble finding free street parking on nearby residential non-permit streets.

Overall, our group had so much fun! The staff is friendly, and the owner is personable and very accommodating. We will definitely be back for future...
