I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sumo Japanese Steakhouse Hibachi Grill in Jonesboro, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by one of your exceptional hosts and then after a short wait our server, Megan, who promptly greeted our grill side table and took our order. We ordered the Chicken and Steak entree with a double portion of fried rice, and we were not disappointed. Our cook, Parmin, was not only a skilled chef but also an entertaining performer. He kept us engaged with his impressive knife skills and fun banter, all while cooking our food to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy, and the fried rice was packed with flavor and just the right amount of seasoning. He engaged with all members of the table and even the little ones. Megan, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent service throughout our meal. We also indulged in some delightful adult beverages. The Peach Strawberry Sangria was refreshing and fruity, while the Volcano Bowl was a showstopper. The presentation was impressive, that added to the excitement. In summary overall, I would highly recommend Sumo Japanese Steakhouse Hibachi Grill to anyone looking for a fun and delicious dining experience. The food was outstanding, the drinks were fantastic, and the service was top-notch. If you're looking for a lively atmosphere and exceptional food, The Grill side of Sumo Japanese Steakhouse Hibachi in Jonesboro is the place to be!

Omg roll is the best sushi roll ever and as usual some of the best service in town. Fillet and shrimp was spot on

Server and Hibachi chef did great! The food was good. However, they need new chairs; they are too short for the Hibachi tables. *UPDATED* took the family today as my last post was a 4 star. However, when we arrived the hostesses were very busy and unfortunately didn't ask who was next. Instead they went to who was in front of them. So I spoke up and said we were next. With attitude she said, is your whole party here and I replied with my wife is parking the car. She said to wait over to the side and then less than a minute later, they came up and I was on the phone with my wife and she couldn't find a place to park. The shorter blonde came up and said well then you will have to wait outside because we don't have waiting in the lobby. Excuse me!?! I have 3 kids that are under the age of 8, that I got out of the car to come into your establishment to spend money and because y'all don't have enough parking and my wife isn't ready for your demands you are removing us from your lobby. The only reason they have 2 stars from me is because of the cooks and food at the grill from our past experiences. Word of advice... work on your customer service and figure the lobby space so you don't loose business!

I just signed up on their Facebook page & received $5 off coupon in messenger & it had no expiration date whatsoever on it & waitress was really rude to our group so she went & got manager & manager came over with an attitude about the entire situation, only to make the situation worse! She said it could not be honored considering it went out on the 5th which is understandable after going back & reading through several posts on the Facebook page just to find it. Manager said "Sorry for breaking y'alls little hearts"! She didn't have a right to come crossways like that! I feel as if you are new customer on their Facebook page, these coupons should stop getting sent out & I am still getting them in messenger & reminding me that this is the last day to redeem them. To me, this is considered "FALSE ADVERTISEMENT"! Stop sending $5 coupons if they can't be honored especially with no expiration dates on the coupons. Way to bring more people into the business, only to get disappointed & to ruin your business expectations! Now don't get me wrong, I have always loved the food & still do but I have never in my entire life had a hateful manager & waitress in that place to come crossways til yesterday! The situation could have been handled more appropriately & not been blown out of proportion! Thanks Sumo's!! Way to keep business up!!!! Need to hire people with better attitudes & stop sending out "FALSE ADVERTISEMENT" if you aren't going to honor it! To top the cherry off, one of the ladies that was with us had her card ran & gratuity wasn't added the first time, the manager went over to the waitress & helped her add it on there. The lady that was involved with us already knew her price the first time & they redid the receipts for the gratuity & they put more over charges on...

I have been the biggest Sumo fan for at least 10 years, and have never once had a bad experience. I went today, however, for lunch with a friend, where we had a new waitress. We received our checks at the end and our Hibachi Lunch meals were listed on our check at the dinner price, so we all let the waitress know.

About 10 minutes later, she finally came back with another round of checks, where they were the exact same as before - still listed at dinner price. We then started to get a bit frustrated. She asked me what I ordered, I told her, and she told me that it might not be offered at lunch price, which I knew was not right.

20 minutes after that, the owner had gotten involved, and we still did not have a new check. I stopped the owner at one point, who I know and adore, and told her that I normally don't complain like this, but it had been 30 minutes and we needed to get this figured out so we could leave. She apologized and went to go check on the 2 waitresses who had been standing at the computer that entire time.

Over 5 more minutes after that, the waitress came over with a card reader, asked each of us again what we had ordered, and gave us our checks at lunch price with no offer of a discount or anything.

40 minutes later, we were expected to pay full price - no discount, no voucher, no nothing - for our meal - after waiting with little to no complaining. Good business at this point would have been an apology with at least some type of discount, and I was extremely disappointed, especially with how often I have come to this restaurant over the years. I hope this is a one time occurrence, but I was still left upset at how it...

Staff needs to be retrained on having basic manors, let alone working in the service industry.

Rude out of the gate. No matter where my wife, my small child, and I stood we were “in the way” and told to move. It wasn’t even busy, maybe 2 other hibachis other than ours. Even with our backs pressed against the wall we were told to move while waiting to be seated.

When our waitress finally did seat us along with 2 other couples another waiter came along not a minute later and told us to vacate our seats. And our waitress and him got into an argument, which our waitress won and we stayed where we were.

Food part was meh. And “Meh” doesn’t cut it when you’re paying $20+ a plate. Portion sizes were incredibly small. Tiny amount of meat, tiny amount of vegetables, and were even greedy with the rice. The food didn’t even taste that great. So $85+ a tip is what our bill came out to.

Now what really finished off the night was the couple sitting to our left who were celebrating the husbands birthday. The tables around the hibachis are tiny. So there is no where to sit anything. So the husband is trying to load his food into this flimsy to go container in the air. Sadly it broke and all the food went over his lap. Immediately the guy cleaning the grill looks at him and says “Tough s* it happens”. He wasn’t offered anything, not even an apology or a tissue to clean himself. Honestly there is no reason to go here other than the show the cooks perform. The food is mediocre, the staff are rude, and you can go get it better at a lower price at so many...
