We stayed the weekend following July 4. People who complain about the place having a dated look are right, but at this price (and it's a great price), I don't expect a sparkly curb appeal. The outside of the building is well-kept. The front desk is staffed 24/7, but if you plan on coming in past 1 or 2 a.m., you'll have to swipe a room key at the lobby doors. It's a welcome security feature. Check-in was a breeze with a nice clerk, and even though we arrived almost half an hour early, we were able to go to our room right away. The elevator was quiet and quick. There was still cleaning staff in the hallway, and they were very friendly even though we were the early ones squeezing past them with our valet cart. We booked a king suite with separate bedroom. The furniture was in great condition, and although we only stayed one night, there is a lot of storage space for a longer stay. The bed was very comfortable. The air conditioner worked great. There is enough space in this suite to do cartwheels and breakdance! Hallelujah! The living room is such a great size. Six people could hang out comfortably. The "kitchen" area is a good size also. You can stand in front of the fridge with the door open and someone can still walk by to get to the bedroom--which has a separate door with a lock. The sofa folds out into a bed, so if the person in the bedroom locks the door, the sofa sleeping person is also locked out of the bathroom. The bathroom is a bit awkward, at least in room 210. If the door opened out instead of in, it would be more functional. The door opens in and the toilet is right there. The toilet is so close to the door that leaving the door open is uncomfortable for a person of average height. The door is right up against your knee, and you have to sit there wondering if the cleaning staff wipes down the entire door as part of their regimen. It's also a tad off-putting to be lying on the luxurious king-size bed and staring directly at the toilet if you sleep on your right side. I don't know how the room is "wired" but moving the bed to the tv wall (and making the bathroom door swing out) would be much more appealing. There was not a bug in sight until about 5 a.m. when a wee roly poly somehow clumbered in to the bathroom. No cobwebs in sight. No traces or weird smells of other pests. When I say "clean", I mean the room was clean. There wasn't even dust on the light bulbs. In fact, I might have brought some in because I bring a box fan from the trunk of my car. 😄 You know how the coffee in the room isn't as good as the coffee in the lobby? Not this coffee. The regular roast is by Cattle Creek, and it has a great flavor and is strong enough to wake up to. The internet never failed. My husband and I both have multiple (6) devices that require internet, and the wifi never slowed down here. Breakfast is 6 a.m. to 9, and it definitely qualifies as a full breakfast. It didn't start until 6:45 though. If you leave here hungry, you're too picky. The selection at this Best Western Plus rivals some of the more pricey hotels that charge an extra $10 for the same thing that is free here. The dining area is a bit crowded with tables and chairs into a narrow, rectangular feel, and half of them are under the vent, but the area probably has to fit a certain amount of guests at once because there are a lot of rooms at this hotel. If you don't like it, Cracker Barrel is a 5 minute walk from the lobby doors. The lounge downstairs is very nice and comfortable, although I only used it a few minutes. The fitness center is really nice. I'm impressed. We didn't use the pool, but there were a few families down there who looked like they were having fun. This place is a great value, right off the interstate, and lots of parking spots. And did I mention quiet? There are vehicles 24/7 out there, and we heard none of them. Overall, this was...
Read moreThe beds were ok, breakfast was good(great bacon), the lady in the dining room was very friendly and helpful. We had 2 rooms, one room was pleasant, the other had a dirty towel hanging on the bathroom door and the ac/heater made a terrible noise constant through the night. Now the reason for the single star, on top of the poor second room condition. We booked and paid for the rooms while on the road through Expedia. While checking in at 1am the guy said the payment came through but showed the card was not active which is normal for Expedia so he took and ran the card for incidentals. He was very pleasant. The payment statement was odd so I questioned the lady in the morning during checkout about a receipt, she said Expedia would send us one. I told her about the exchange the night before and she looked into it and said we were all good. After leaving we decided to look at our credit card online and saw that they did in fact charge us double! So I immediately called and was told that she would look into it and call the payment department and get back to us later that morning. I never received a call so I called the following day to see what was going on. She told me that it was just a “hold” on our card and it would fall off. I thought this was odd since a hold is rarely for an exact amount like these charges were. I let a few days go by and sure enough the charges posted as payments on our credit card as well as Expedia. So I called again, the gentleman I spoke to this time said he would leave a message for the manager and she would handle the refund the next day. I called on that Monday requesting by name to speak to the manager and was told she was not there. I called a few hours later and was met with a “may I ask who is calling” and then an excuse of why the manager wasn’t available. I was told that I would get a call back later in the day when the refund was issued, I received no call. So today I called again and talked to the same lady I had spoken with at checkout and every time I call in the morning, she said the refund was issued this morning but I still don’t see the refund, not even as a pending transaction. I called again this evening hoping to speak to someone different and hopefully get another perspective of what is going on. First call I was immediately put on hold, then hung up on after a long wait. I called again, I stated my situation and was told she could leave a message for the manager and get a call back tomorrow. I requested she look at my folio to see what it says about a refund. While looking it up other guests walked in and she put me on hold. I don’t feel it was right to put me on hold mid-conversation just because other guests walked in. Then the phone rang back through and she said she would call me back, that it was taking longer than expected. I asked if she would call me back after checking-in the guests and her response was “ok”. So to recap, ok room, great breakfast and breakfast staff, very poor customer service and overcharging. I would consider changing the star level depending on how/if the...
Read moreI will say overall the hotel is decent for the money. But my reason for one star is the owner. I placed my reservation through expedia.com and paid $103 at the time I placed the reservation. When I arrived at the hotel they asked for my debit card and Dl. Which I have them. I didn't know until the next morning while checking my bank account. But when I checked in. There was 2 charges placed on my card for $91.70. I went to the front desk and after an hour of the guy trying to reach the owner. He finally says there should only be one charge and it's only a hold until I check out for incidentals. But they will not process. So I left and checked my account the next day and sure enough all three charges processed. The $103+$91.70+91.70. so I called the hotel and it took literally all day to get an answer from him. He asked for screen shots of the charges which I sent. Then his story changed from it being for incidentals to I was charged because expedia's virtual card declined and he didn't get paid from them. So I called Expedia and told them the situation. They told me that if their card declined the customer is supposed to be told at the time of check in that is what happened. I was told nothing. Expedia told me to hold while they called him. When they came back on the line. They said he told them the reason I wasn't told their virtual card declined was because I was being rude and he just wanted to get me away from the counter. That is an absolute lie. He wasn't even at the hotel when I checked in. And other than these extra charges the entire stay was pleasant. Nobody was ever rude to anybody. Expedia put me on hold again while they further investigated the situation. When they came back on the line. She told me they positively confirmed that he was lying about the whole thing because they checked the transactions on their virtual card for that hotel and there were none. They said he didn't even attempt to collect from that card he just automatically charged me again not one charge but twice! He changed his story a few times which shows he's lying then when they confirmed he lied about their card declining they knew he was lying about the whole situation. So anyone that stays at this hotel. I recommend that if you book through a third party and the hotel asks you for your card. Make sure they process the transaction like they are supposed to and collect from the third party not your card. There is no telling how long he has been doing this and how many people he has done it to. But I'm sure he's stolen thousands of dollars from people. Because I'm sure most people don't just check their accounts like I did and don't catch the unauthorized charges he's making. Expedia told me they were escalating the investigation because the girl working the counter in the morning at that hotel said several complaints have been made like mine. He's a thief watch you account!! Oh and the wifi doesn't work...
